The Testing Technician reports directly to the Regional Manager. This is a technical position primarily involving temporary assembly of PLC control systems with serial data communication, and performing inspection, testing and troubleshooting on these systems. This individual is responsible for assuring system completeness and testing of the system assemblies. This involves making all necessary corrections to the systems so actual performance of the final product agrees with specified functions from the engineering department. This position requires constructive interaction with the fabrication, engineering, and drafting departments to resolve system problems and assembly of the finished product for shipment. This position will also assist the Service Manager with small service projects.

Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to, the following:

• Responsible for gathering applicable documentation to thoroughly test assigned systems
• Set up system components for testing, with appropriate system schematics and block diagrams
• Assure correct mounting and connection of each device mounted to a system panel
• Assemble, configure and test multiple security control systems including touch screen, CCTV, MATV, card access, computers, PLC’s, control panels, intercom and paging systems
• Verify all system components operate as designed
• Test input and output hardware/wiring per system schematics using system PLC function with straight through I/O logic
• Perform system test with job logic software, switch functional description documentation and I/O point transfer schematics, to meet design engineer and project manager’s objectives
• Complete the assembly of lexan covered control panels using fabrication drawings
• Install frames and hinges of lexan control panels in enclosures
• Prepare system panels for shipping
• Responsible for editing system schematics and fabrication drawings and returning documentation back to the design engineer when testing is successfully completed
• Other job-related duties as may be necessary to carry out the responsibilities of this position

Education & Experience Required:

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED required
• Associates Degree in Electronics Technology or equivalent 3 to 5 years work experience

Other Skills/Abilities Required:

• Proficient in the use of computers with a background in DOS, Windows NT, Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10 Pro and PLC logic

• Good written and verbal communication skills required

• A thorough understanding of the parts and equipment required for Com-Tec systems
• Versatile at reading schematics
• Good troubleshooting skills
• Proficient in the use of electronic bench test equipment
• Continued education and training in areas necessary to maintain proficiency with product and process changes

• Ability to form working relationships with Leadership, co-workers, and other team members
• Ability to work independently

Working Conditions:

• Usual work hours are 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday-Thursday and 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM on Fridays
• Occasional overtime is required as needed
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and other devices and objects
• Bending, stooping and stretching as required to set up, take down and complete testing on equipment
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
