The Payroll Specialist ensures the accurate andtimely completion of bi-weekly, multi-state payroll in accordance with CorneaGen policies and procedures, and applicable government agencies and laws. Specific responsibilities include completing bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll close duties (including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations), preparing payroll reports for audits and other company requirements, as well as other duties.Job Location: This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position with a core schedule of Monday through Friday. This position works a hybrid schedule, spending part of the week in our Seattle office and part of the week working remotely from home. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Report to Payroll Manager and process bi-weekly, multistate payroll for 200 employees. Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with federal, state and local tax and employment laws and regulations, including, but not limited to, all applicable wages and voluntary (ex. employee benefits) and involuntary (ex. garnishments and levies) deductions, state licensing and tax amendments. Maintain employee data and payroll records, including auditing the on-boarding of new employees, employee terminations and time and attendance, ensuring complete and accurate integration between HRIS, ERP and current payroll system. Coordinate with HR, Finance, CorneaGen Managers, employees and 3rd party vendors as needed to handle payroll questions and requests. Monitor payroll inbox and provide employee assistance in a courteous and timely manner. Complete Employment Verifications. Work with Finance Team to develop and document payroll processes. Support payroll system policies and transactions related to time off and leaves of absences. Perform bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual payroll close duties including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations as needed for balance sheets accounts and employee benefits. Prepare payroll reports for audits and other company requirements. Keep up to date job knowledge of federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, pursuing related educational opportunities and participating in professional organizations. Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities: Experience with Payroll software required (Dayforce/HRIS and NetSuite a plus). Comprehensive and working knowledge of payroll principles, practices, regulations and procedures including those that relate to Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Thorough understanding and knowledge of federal, multistate, and local tax laws, wage and hour laws (experience with California a plus), and employee benefits plans as they relate to payroll. Advanced computer knowledge including Excel, Word, and Outlook required. General Accounting experience. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in accordance with company policy. Able to execute clear and effective written and verbal communication across a broad range of levels within the organization. Understanding and adherence to CorneaGen's safety, regulatory and confidentiality guidelines. A personal commitment to organ and tissue donation. Education and/or Equivalent Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required.3 years of progressively advancing experience with payroll processing required.Fundamentals Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred.
