Mechanical Designer III

SUMMARY
Designs complex mechanical systems and componentsusing CAD. Works independently andwithin a team across departments to assist with problem solving whilemaintaining customer focus. Completesassignments and projects of increasingly larger scope requiring knowledge ofconcepts, methods, and application of engineering principles and maintaining ahigh level of integrity and safety awareness. Ongoing training includes development of new skills related to learningprocedures and methods in the design of mechanical systems and components.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES ANDRESPONSIBILITIES

• Design pressure vessels and mechanical systems with a strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Prepare mechanical design layouts and drawings according to engineering specifications. Must be able to prepare plumbing and electrical schematics.
• Create solid models, parts & assemblies of all products
• Prepares testing procedures and test reports. May include direct involvement with machine shop, testing programs and related personnel.
• Guides and assists interdepartmental support which may include technical problem solving within the manufacturing, quality, and safety departments. Investigates product non-conformances and engineering change requests and implements changes if necessary.
• Advises and assists customers during development, production, and operation of customer specific tools and/or applications.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Associates Degree or Diploma/Technical School Training in ME, EE, Computer Aided Design Technology or related field plus 5-7 years in CAD experience or 4 year Engineering degree plus 3-5 years CAD experience.
• Two years of experience in AutoCAD and Inventor is desired. Knowledge of hydraulics, pressure vessels and automated controls and their functions is desired.

LANGUAGESKILLS
Abilityto read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, andmemos. Ability to write simplecorrespondence. Ability to effectivelypresent information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employeesor the organization and customers.
MATHEMATICALSKILLS
Abilityto add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, and decimals.
MECHANICALand ELECTRICAL SKILLS
Abilityto assemble and disassemble mechanical and hydraulic items, ability to wireelectrical items are desired
REASONINGABILITY
Abilityto apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolvedwritten or oral instructions. Ability todeal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardizedsituations.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Whileperforming the duties of this job, the employee is typically in an officeenvironment; however, at times, the employee will be required to go into the manufacturingarea exposing them to an environment that includes but is not limited to: metalcutting and machining equipment, cutting fluids, metal shavings and oil. The employee may beexposed to fumes or airborne particles and there is a potential risk ofelectric shock. The noise level in thework environment is usually moderate.
