SALARY: $159,016 - $211,952

Job Title: Fleet & Facilities Director

Status: Exempt

Basic Function

CORE's Fleet & Facilities Director is the principal steward for the Cooperative's facilities, physical security, and fleet providing strategy, leadership, and service to position CORE as a premier energy provider. Through the development and ongoing leadership of multi-million-dollar programs, projects, infrastructure and systems, this individual is charged with ensuring an optimal environment for the reliable, safe and secure operation of multiple locations (4) and a large variety of fleet vehicles.

This position is the direct liaison for ongoing and future construction/project work with CORE and its owned properties and will work directly with the project leads to ensure these projects are completed on time and on budget. The Fleet & Facilities Director is responsible for overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance as well as trouble calls/work requests and should have familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Software Programs (CMMS) and Fleet Management Software.

The Director is responsible for maximizing value and ensuring operational efficiency of the Cooperative's fleet assets (equipment count 270 and rolling stock 190), and leading team members who administer the fleet program.

This position reports directly to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) and is an active member and leader of the Corporate Services Division, as well as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting CORE in collaborative decision-making to advance the Cooperative's mission, vision and goals through the execution of priorities. This role develops and drives strategies to map, guide, and support the future of work.

Experience/Education:

  • A degree from an accredited institution in construction, business or related field plus at least fifteen years of experience in Project Management, Facilities or Fleet with at least 7 of these in a leadership role. An equivalent combination of training, education and experience providing the required skills, knowledge and abilities may be accepted in lieu of education requirements.
  • Success in managing people, leading change, and developing high-performing organizations, in addition to superb communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Requires valid Colorado driver's license with satisfactory driving record within CORE standards.
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Job Duties

  • Leadership and management of multi-million-dollar projects.
  • Work closely with leadership to understand and support the unique needs of each Division and Department.
  • Build a comprehensive and forward-thinking approach to responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate a consultative approach to problem-solving.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve department infrastructure and technology to support agile and effective processes.
  • Embody a collaborative and responsive leadership style that is manifested throughout the department team.
  • Stay abreast of trends and practices and integrate as appropriate.
  • Serve as the steward of the department budget and resources with oversight and responsibility for its sound fiscal management.
  • Serve as primary liaison for department initiatives.
  • Represent the Cooperative in a thoughtful, positive, and progressive manner to institutional peers, professional organizations, and business associates.

Facilities Management Services

  • Responsible for the management, maintenance, and oversight of the following hard facilities management systems for all CORE locations:
    • HVAC and Building Automation Systems (BAS)
    • Plumbing systems and fixtures
    • Lighting and electrical systems
    • Mechanical systems (other than HVAC)
    • Fire suppression and other emergency control systems
  • Responsible for the management, maintenance, and oversight of the following soft facilities management services:
    • Cleaning and janitorial services
    • Waste disposal and transportation
    • Space planning
    • Building and storage yard security and surveillance
    • Landscaping and property management
    • Procurement of facility supplies

Fleet

  • Effective management of all fleet and maintenance activities
  • Ensure safe and reliable vehicles are available to meet operational requirements.
  • Conducts fleet evaluations to ensure maintenance standards are met.
  • Ensures vehicle management systems are effectively utilized.
  • Lead, direct and execute key projects (People, Process and Technology)
  • Develop new and impactful Fleet related productivity initiatives with the evaluation of new emerging trends and technologies in the fleet management and fuel usage space
  • Manage fleet composition thorough purchase and sales of assets to minimize expense, optimize efficiencies, and achieve maximum returns throughout unit life cycle.
  • Work with authorized dealers, contractors, and vendors to secure equipment and vehicles.
  • Monitor and further develop our preventive maintenance program to ensure vehicles and equipment maintain exceptional in-service status.
  • Manage service operations to ensure fleet compliance with procedural and safety requirements, and federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and implement policies and programs related to the CORE fleet; ensure proper change management when applicable.

Regulatory

  • Responsible for the regulatory oversight of the following regulatory requirements:
    • Fuels, oils, and chemicals
    • Waste stream management
    • Water quality
    • Safety / OSHA

Physical Requirements

  • Moderate Physical Demands: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Operating machinery and/or power tools as required.

Working Conditions

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
  • The worker is subject to noise: There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level.
  • The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • The worker is subject to oils: There is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
  • This position is exposed to a combination of office and field/plant environments. Normal conditions apply to the office environment. The field/plant environments may include noise, extreme heat, extreme cold, slippery or unstable surfaces, and uneven terrain.
  • Requires regular travel/visits to plant and field locations.
  • Ability and willingness to carry a cell phone, be on call, and/or respond to calls 24/7.
  • Ability and willingness to work beyond normal office hours.
  • Must wear personal protective equipment as appropriate.
