The purpose of an internship at CORE is to provide students with the opportunity to gain human resources exposure and business acumen within utility and energy industry. Our internships also provide students with the opportunity to learn and gain practical experience working on challenging projects, network with professionals and learn from some of the brightest minds in business. What you will be doing This Internship is in our Human Resources group and will gain valuable experience in the HR functions that support the organization.

Position Summary

This position exists to provide comprehensive support in Human Resources. Assist with Human Resources initiatives as well as provide comprehensive support for applicant searches, applicant communication, assist with new hire onboarding and engagement initiatives. This position will support the HR department through demonstrated proficiency and comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources functions. It will be necessary to apply knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of Human Resources to complete assignments, promote a culture that is conducive to effective relationships among diverse team members, maintain confidentiality and always represent the Human Resources department professionally. The systems, operations and processes for this position are established and defined by leadership, but this position will be expected to work with flexibility and latitude and adapt practical approaches or routines for various situations to include:

  • Assist with various human resources projects such as the preparation of communication materials, program administration, process improvement, documentation, and data analysis.
  • Support various disciplines of human resources: talent acquisition and selection, employee relations, performance management, compensation, benefits, and human resources projects.
  • Conduct general office and administrative duties, as assigned.

Experience/Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent certificate [required]
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited university
  • Preference given to candidates pursuing degree in human resources or related discipline
  • Previous experience in customer service preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office: [Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint].
  • Proficient with general office equipment.

Job Duties

  • Assist Recruiting department with various projects and functions as assigned.
  • Assist with implementation and launch of the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), ensuring accurate tracking of applicant flow and data entry.
  • Assist with logistical details and requirements associated with interview scheduling.
  • Respond (by email, phone and in person) to requests made by candidates, new hires and members of leadership as needed.
  • Assist with 'open houses', interviewing and assessment administration.
  • Support New Employee Orientation with completion of pre-employment paperwork.
  • Assist with completion of pre-employment screening and on-boarding activities.
  • Assist in various Human Resources projects from all functional HR areas, as designated.
  • Complete tasks on computer using MS Office programs such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Interact effectively with CORE team members on a daily basis. Share opinions and ask questions relevant to the work and/or his or her study program.
  • Work independently on assigned tasks with some supervisory oversight.
  • Recognize problems which are beyond intern's capabilities and learn from the experts in the area.
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other related duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally.

Working Conditions

  • The worker is subject to both environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.
