A Mortgage Underwriter's responsibilities are:

• Ability to underwrite Conventional loans to meet agency guidelines as well as specific investor guidelines.
• Review appraisal reports to ensure compliance with agency and investor criteria and to ensure adequacy of collateral.
• Make timely and accurate decisions on loans reviewed.
• Through understanding of personal and business tax returns in accordance with Conventional guidelines for self-employed borrowers (when applicable).
• Clear communication to loan processors, loan originators and provide guidance or training when necessary.

Qualifications

• One or more years of residential mortgage underwriting to include Conventional loans
• Thorough knowledge of residential mortgage underwriting of Conventional loan products
• Understanding of lending documentation and government regulations requirements
• Analytical thinking
• Self-motivated and can work independently
• Problem solving/decision making ability
