Corcept Therapeutics is Hiring a Program Team Director - Oncology Near Menlo, CA

The Program Team Director facilitates the cross-functional Oncology Program Strategy Team (PST) in their development and execution of development strategies and provides project management support to functions as they implement those strategies.

Responsibilities:

Program Strategy Team Facilitation

  • Works closely with all members of the Oncology PST to understand what important development strategies, decisions and proposals need to be made, and partners with team members to create the best opportunities for the team to develop those strategies/decisions/proposals
  • Creates models, frameworks, and/or presentations for the PST’s consideration in order to facilitate the PST’s development of its strategies
  • Ensures all functions on the PST are aware of the state of the Oncology Program by developing and maintaining high-level timelines and status reports, and communicating these at a regular cadence
  • Connects dots among departments, keeps groups aware of program-level strategies, decisions, priorities and new information; does so in a nuanced way, balancing need for transparency with the need for speed and efficiency
  • Schedules, co-chairs and facilitates Oncology PST meetings, including co-developing the agenda with the PST members
  • Proposes the creation of sub-teams and working groups
  • Provides relevant program information for budgeting process and portfolio reviews
  • Works in partnership with Global Oncology Clinical Lead to develop quarterly presentations for Board of Director meetings
  • Ensures good team dynamics within PST
  • Ensures appropriate and effective communication within the program team, senior management, and the executive team, including the CEO

Project Management & Operations

  • Once drug development strategies are developed, develops and updates lower-level project development plans, which define scope of program deliverables and resources
  • Creates and maintains project-level Gantt charts/timelines
  • Coordinates, facilitates and motivates functional areas to execute project plans and achieve goals/targets
  • May lead or organize sub teams and ad hoc working groups
  • Anticipates and identifies project issues that pose a challenge to achieving project goals; communicates project risks to decision-makers and helps to mitigate project risks, as appropriate
  • Takes minutes, summarizing decisions and action items, from the PST meetings

Preferred Skills, Qualifications or Technical Proficiencies:

  • Deep oncology experience in program and project management is a must
  • Strong and demonstrated program leadership skills and ability to manage, motivate, and integrate complex, cross-functional drug development teams
  • Demonstrated mastery of project management skills, tools, and practices
  • Analytical skills and ability to focus on both details and the big picture
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and influence/negotiation skills
  • Working knowledge of regulatory guidelines for drug development functions (ICH and FDA)
  • Able to navigate uncertainty with creative problem-solving
  • Ability to achieve business results with colleagues of diverse levels, functional expertise, skills, and priorities. Effective as both a team player and a team leader
  • Ability to take a hands-on, “roll up your sleeves” approach

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s Degree in a life science or related field or equivalent experience
  • At least 10 years program and project management experience in drug development in the pharmaceutical industry, including Phases 1-3, regulatory filings and product launch
  • PMP or other Project Management Institute certification

The pay range that the Company reasonably expects to pay for this position is $234,000 - $275,000; the pay ultimately offered may vary based on legitimate considerations, including job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. An annual cash bonus and equity grants may be provided as part of the overall compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other wellness benefits, dependent on the position offered.
