Corbin Health & Rehabilitation Center is Hiring a Staff Development (RN) - Infection Control Coordinator Near Corbin, KY

Summary

The Staff Development (RN) - Infection Control Coordinator is responsible for overseeing Nurse Aide education, staffing needs, evaluation processes and staff development for Licensed Nurses and State Registered Nurse Aides to promote competency. This will be achieved by planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs for nursing service and other departments, as well as perform clinical tasks and assists in other departments.

This position will also be responsible for reporting and surveilling infections in the facility in addition to providing education to staff members and residents about infection control policies and procedures. 

Available Schedules

Corbin Health & Rehabilitation Center is a long-term care facility, which means we’re open 24/7. Our staffing model includes a variety of shift types and flexible scheduling. We are currently hiring for the following schedules:

  • 1st Shift (8AM to 4PM)

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.

  • Plan, organize, develop, manage the educational needs of the Licensed Nurses and State Registered Nurse Aides to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, and regulations.
  • Responsible for coordinating the facility infection control program including the establishment and implementation of practices designed to provide a safe, sanitary and comfortable environment that will prevent the transmission of disease and infection.
  • Participate in curriculum design of programs and continuous revision of academic programs
  • Monitors trends and implements education strategies to ensure compliance with quality standards
  • Educates care staff on the use of new equipment, supplies and instruments
  • Consults and serves as a clinical resource for the other clinical staff
  • Provides direct specialized training to assigned groups of staff based on resident specialized needs
  • Initiate clinical skills development programs within the parameters of established clinical models and best practices
  • Practice nursing according to nursing theory and current nursing practice.
  • Attend continuing education seminars, in-services, and read professional journals.
  • Collaborates with medical providers, patient care staff and clinical resources in the planning, implementation and delivery of education curricula
  • Utilize appropriate teaching methods such as one-on-one and group instruction, demonstration or discussion.
  • Assist in documenting and reporting Continuous Quality Improvement activities.
  • Utilize nursing knowledge and skills in the safe implementation of basic preventative therapeutic and rehabilitative nursing care of assigned patient/family as evidenced by documentation and observation of positive patient care outcomes.
  • Accurately take and record vital signs.
  • Administer medication accurately, observing patient response, as evidenced by documentation in the medical record and lack of negative outcomes.
  • Interpret department policies and procedures to employees, residents, visitors, government agencies, etc.
  • Complete forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc. related to facility operations.
  • Ensure that all personnel use and have access to safety equipment when lifting or moving residents including personal protective equipment for exposure to blood or body fluids.
  • Assist in the development of monitoring tools and data collection methodology.
  • Assist in the review and evaluation of data, determining presence or absence of opportunities for improvement of care.
  • Provide educational leadership to care providers, facilitate learning for all nursing disciplines
  • Assist caregivers with educational needs, problem solving and health management of residents
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or administrator.

Infection Control Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordination of the facility's Infection Control & Antibiotic Stewardship Program.
  • Responsible for the prevention, assessment, identification, monitoring, and reporting of infection.
  • Ensure that treatment is timely and appropriate and that the facility's policies and procedures are being followed in accordance with facility standards as well as state/federal regulations.
  • Provide education on the facility's Infection Control Program.
  • Maintain employee health files and proper documentation
