CopperPoint Insurance is Hiring a Supervisor, Associate Underwriters Near Anchorage, AK

CopperPoint has an exciting opportunity for a full-time remote Supervisor, Associate Underwriters. The Supervisor, Associate Underwriters oversees the associate underwriting staff and meets regularly to discuss challenges, results, workload priorities, and workflow changes in the underwriting department. This position handles assigned personnel decisions with support from AVP, Underwriting Services. The person in this role works closely with AVP, Underwriting Services and manages day-to-day problem solving for Associate Underwriters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop staff through effective coaching and mentoring to maximize individual employee contributions for the achievement of personal and company goals.
  • Implement, monitor, and share key metrics and results tied to business objectives.
  • Review and analyze workloads to ensure staffing is adequate to support workload and balance amongst the staff.
  • Provide technical leadership to Associate Underwriters related to filed rates, rules & forms impacting the business.
  • Work in partnership with Underwriting & Operations leaders to drive efficient workflows to facilitate handling of daily workflow tied to mutually agreed upon objectives; and strive for consistency and quality (in line with mutually agreed SLAs) within underwriting file/process workflows.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of end-to-end processing of tasks in various systems.
  • Engage in project management including quality control and follow-through.
  • Collaborate effectively with Underwriters, Underwriting Managers, and Operations Managers. As needed, provide customer service to agents/brokers on behalf of the AU team.
  • Assist AVP, Underwriting Services in developing and implementing training programs and materials.
  • Assist AVP, Underwriting Services in the initial screening of new hires, recruiting process, and onboarding (including training schedules).
  • Work closely and partner with AVP, Underwriting Services in day-to-day leadership for the Associate Underwriters including review of performance, areas of improvement, and accolades.
  • Some travel to other CopperPoint locations may be necessary to maintain relationships with assigned personnel and business partners.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred in a related discipline i.e., Marketing, Finance, Business
  • A minimum of 5 years of full-time work experience in insurance can be utilized on a year-for-year basis as a substitute for a degree.
  • Prior Leadership experience is a plus.

    • Thorough knowledge and/or experience with commercial lines of insurance, i.e., classification and experience rating.
    • Must be detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
    • Excellent customer service
    • Knowledge of insurance principles, rates, rules, forms, procedures, regulations, coverages, and business processes.
    • Ability to multi-task, prioritize workload and problem-solve.
    • Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
    • Ability to analyze and assess problems or conflicts from multiple points of view.
      • Overall thought process to consider “bigger picture” and downstream impacts.
    Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively exchange information with the underwriting team and internal and external stakeholders.

Salary Range:

  • $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 annually
  • Compensation may vary dependent on skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
  • In addition to base salary, compensation may include an annual discretionary bonus.

Benefits:

  • Employees will accrue 0.0846 hours of Paid Time Off (PTO) per paid hour, which may total 22 days a year. In addition, employees will also receive 10 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
