Copley Health System is Hiring an Unit Resource Nurse - Med Surg Near Morrisville, VT

Overview

At the direction of the Nurse Director, the Unit Resource Nurse is a registered nurse who oversees the clinical activities and practice for the assigned patient care unit. Serves as a clinical resource and role model, supporting institutional priorities, policies and practices, including but not limited to, maintaining healthy work environments and providing each patient the best are in the right place at the right time. Serves as a designated professional representative of Copley assuming delegated responsibilities to participate with local, regional, and state partners on initiatives and programs Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with all patient care disciplines. Promotes professional behaviors and standards while supporting organizational imperatives and promoting an environment of Patient and Family Centered Care.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes and maintains quality patient care, supports and assists with nursing operations, assist in teaching nursing staff and enforce procedures, policies, practices and standards of the facility.
  • Function as the Unit Resource to all staff.
  • Role models the Professional Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice while upholding the Vermont Nurse Practice Act.
  • Works within the department/unit and ensures communication and coordination with intra professional / interdepartmental teams. Coordinates orientation, training, and professional development of new and existing employees.
  • Serves as primary resource for the unit, to other nursing personnel, physicians and other members of the patient care team.
  • Model, monitor and support compliance with organizational and unit/ department based policies and procedures.
  • Assumes direct patient care assignment to meet patient care needs as the second nurse.
  • Serves as mentor preceptor on the unit and actively participates and contributes to unit-based communications and meetings.
  • Maintains effective, diplomatic, accurate communication skills.
  • Participate actively in unit and institutional quality improvement initiatives, committees and projects.
  • Supports the mission and vision of Copley Health Systems and demonstrates excellent customer service at all times.
  • Assists in identifying needs of the unit to assure quality outcome of care and seeks to maximize productive use of resources.
  • Ensures evidence-based practice informs our clinical practice.
  • Assists in monitoring productivity and quality and identifies areas for improvement.
  • Demonstrates successful conflict resolution in a timely manner with patients, families and other health care team members.
  • Adheres to the Copley Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior as expected by our patients, colleagues and the community. Understands the personal obligation to report any activity that appears to violate applicable laws, rules, regulations, or the Code of Conduct itself.

Qualifications

Education Required:

Graduate from an accredited School of NursingBachelor of Science in Nursing

Experience Required:

Three to Five years of clinical experience with demonstrated progressive leadership.

License and Certification Required:

Current VT RN License in good standing with no limitations or restrictions.BLS

License and Certification Desired:

Certification in Speciality area within one year of hire

Skill Required:

  • The unit resource nurse possess excellent interpersonal skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, leadership skills, and problem identification/ resolution abilities. The unit resource nurse possess the necessary clinical skills and leadership competencies to promote teamwork, has integrity, the initiative and ability to foster growth in themselves and others.
  • Competency in Microsoft Office Products: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be competent in the concepts, function and utilization of technologies including the EMR
