Description

SUMMARY:

The Learning Resources Coordinator provides support to the Director of Libraries in all areas of service.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position supervises and provides direction to Learning Resources Staff.

  • Supervises and assists with the recruitment, selection, evaluation, and retention of qualified employees.

  • Facilitates orientation process for new employees in the area.

  • Implements college and department policies.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.

  • Handles discipline and termination of employees as needed and in accordance with college policy.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs duties associated with interlibrary loan

  2. Participates in the delivery of reference services by staffing the library circulation desk and assisting faculty and students with locating and using resources effectively

  3. Provides technical assistance for library users

  4. Compiles statistical data regarding campus library services

  5. Works closely with faculty in the recommendation and acquisition of division resources

  6. Assists with cataloging library material

  7. Coordinates library and community programming

  8. Supervises work-study students

  9. Schedules and administers proctored exams for Mississippi Virtual Community College

  10. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications


MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One (1) year of library work experience
  • Office computer skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings.

PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree in Library Science
  • Experience within an academic library
  • Demonstrated experience using educational technologies including Learning Management Systems used to deliver or enhance teaching in both traditional and online settings
  • Work experience with bibliographic tools.

ENVIRONMENT AND DEMANDS:

  • The work environment is an office setting with moderate noise.
  • While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
