Copenhagen Offshore Partners A/S is Hiring a Business Development Director Near Boston, MA

We are looking for Business Development Director to pursue the opportunities in US that materialize in the coming years. As the Business Development Director, you will have a key role in the development and selection of commercial concepts and drive early-stage commercial project development. This position would report to Chief Commercial Officer in US, based in Boston.

You will drive activities such as:

  • Project manage development and maturation of opportunities for offshore wind seabed acquisition and offtake opportunities
  • Lead the development and preparation of commercial proposals for offshore wind procurement and support bilateral offtake negotiations
  • Manage financial modelling, project evaluation and development of business cases
  • Structure and negotiate transactions with a variety of counterparties in order to secure access to real estate, ports, infrastructure, and supply chain facilities.
  • Manage a team of internal and extenral technical and commercial specialists to prepare responses to RFPs, including defining bid strategy, managing bid writing, and internal approval milestones
  • Manage risk assessment and deal structuring functions
  • Budget definition and follow up for DEVEX, OPEX and CAPEX
  • Prepare and present high-quality board papers and investment decisions to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Supporting the Executive management team and investors through project financing, managing investors, advisors and banks, as well as pre and post financial close management
  • Provide strategic advice to the management and investors on commercial strategies and opportunities that support the achievement of business objectives

To succeed in this role, you will have the following,

The ideal candidate has relevant experience from a similar position in a large corporate, investment bank, top tier consultancy and possesses the following

  • Top academic performer with 10 years of experience working for or within energy sector in a commercial role. Interest in large and complex infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated strong commercial skills - experience working with business cases and contracts, developing commercial relationships and agreements. Good understanding of project valuation and commercial drivers.
  • Proven commercial and business acumen, including ability to solve complex contractual issues through the facilitation, negotiation and influencing of key counterparts and stakeholders to achieve agreed outcomes
  • Skilled in Excel and PowerPoint – able to perform commercial analysis independently and present conclusions in a concise manner
  • Analytical mindset – ability to create compelling and concise arguments using data
  • Outgoing and ascendant personality with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Strategic thinker, with an eye for details
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present and communicate complex matters
  • Fluent in English
