Cooper Steel is Hiring a Human Resource Generalist Near Nashville, TN

The Human Resource Generalist supports Cooper Steel's goals, values, and philosophy by exhibiting the following behaviors: excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. As a member of the Cooper Steel team, performance includes demonstration of the following accountabilities: communication, teamwork, and job knowledge.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Human Resource Generalist will support their area of responsibility in recruiting, training, employee relations, payroll, benefits, and other HR related areas as needed. This position will focus on supporting programs/strategies that impact the attraction, motivation, development, and retention of the people resources of the company.
**We are looking for someone with experience in recruiting, training and HRIS to join our team!

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  1. Establish credibility with the management team and all employees to be an effective listener and problem solver
  2. Understand and apply all HR policies and company guidelines consistently
  3. Complete training and onboarding for new employees
  4. Assist with recruiting for current open positions, including managing job postings, scheduling and conducting interviews, making job offers and completing pre-employment screenings, etc.
  5. Plan and implement employee engagement activities for area of responsibility
  6. Manage leave of absence cases
  7. Utilize HRIS system to create reports, review timecards, and maintain employee profiles
  8. Communicate and provide guidance to management and employees as needed
  9. Assist with toolbox talks and other employee communications
  10. Be involved in local community groups to build relationships, enhance knowledge and visibility within the community
  11. React productively to change
  12. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelors degree in Business Administration or related field preferred
0-2 years of relevant human resource experience; and/or equivalent education and experience in job related activities
OTHER SKILLS
Strong interpersonal skills; detail oriented; ability to communicate effectively with a diverse range of individuals; self-motivated and capable of working independently within a team; good judgment; critical thinking; problem solving skills; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously; computer literate with working knowledge of Outlook, Word and Excel; ability to work effectively with others; ability to adapt in a fast paced environment; good prioritization skills; ability to work effectively under pressure and respond to changing demands of handling multiple job duties and frequent interruptions
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Position is in an office setting that involves everyday risks or discomforts requiring normal safety precautions.
