The Role

We seek a highly efficient multi-tasker skilled in machine operation to prep, maintain, and operate our band saw used in manufacturing one of our highest volume product lines. You’ll set the pace in the efficiency of our production of this line, so speed and attention to detail are a must. You will cut products with precision, minimize and spot waste concerns, and be a preventative maintenance and safety leader. Being a team player is essential – so you should be willing to learn and continually improve. A successful Machine Operator will ensure the speed and precision of products being produced are running smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits.

Essential Job Functions

• Be capable of performing all functions necessary to operate up to two different types of manual equipment (i.e., Bands Saw, Exact o Knife)

• Understand work orders and how to determine product manufacturing requirements

• Understand all functions of the machine, such as blade changing and tensioning, turning equipment on/off, etc

• Be able to keep up with daily manufacturing goals and quotas.

• Make machine adjustments, such as changing blades and using hand tools.

• Ensure that the machine can produce the required dimensions and other quality requirements of the product to be manufactured

• Understand Quality requirements, minimize defects, and report any quality or machine issues immediately to the Production Manager

• Lifts heavy objects by hand (20-50lbs), cleans work area, machines, and equipment, using a broom, rags, and cleaning compounds.

• Can sit/stand/lift/bend for up to 8 hours per day

• Perform daily general housekeeping activities to keep the work area clean and organized

• Complete all work efficiently and timely as instructed by the Production Manager

Physical Requirements  

The work is performed in a climate-controlled environment with low to moderate noise. This job frequently requires the employee to stand, walk, sit, use hands, climb stairs, climb portable ladders to heights of up to 15 ft., balance; stoop; kneel; push; pull, reach overhead, read, talk or hear. The employee must lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions. The employee should never attempt to lift more than 50 pounds.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED is required

• Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing work environment

• Proven track record of good attendance and being on time according to work schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $25.00 per hour
