This is an individual contributor role that provides technical leadership guidance and mentorship to other highly technical resources. This role leads the design, development and integration of business applications across the entire software development lifecycle (SDLC) for enterprise wide systems while adhering to CNA standards. This role also provides guidance to others to support the building of technical capabilities. JOB DESCRIPTION: Essential Duties & Responsibilities Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines: Design, develop, and test complex applications according to CNA coding and quality standards. Design, develop and test commercial and specialty lines applications using Guidewire Policy Center. Design, configure and develop forms in Oracle Documaker and integrate with Policy Guidewire system. Design and develop integration using J2EE framework for integrating all documents publishing applications. Develop code based on business requirements or user stories. Conduct robust unit testing to ensure deliverables match the design and provide expertise to support subsequent release testing. Ensure teams adherence to the best-practice coding standards. Ensure the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential QA tools (e.g., QA data base, test system environment and software). Ensure product quality documentation system by writing and updating quality assurance procedures and establishing rework standards. 100% telecommuting is allowed from anywhere in the United States. Reporting Relationship Typically reports to Director or above Education & Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT or related and 5 (five) years of experience in software development. Must have some work experience with each of the following: Design, develop and test insurance applications using Guidewire Policy Center within commercial and specialty lines domain; Design, configure and develop forms in Oracle Documaker and integrate with Policy Guidewire system; and Design and develop integration using J2EE framework for integrating all documents publishing applications within insurance. Primary Location United States – Chicago, IL - 100% telecommuting is allowed from anywhere in the United States. Organization – Technology Mon-Fri., 8:30am – 4:45pm, 37.5 hours/week, $134,118 - $152,250 per year, overtime exempt. This position qualifies for CNA’s employee referral policy program.
