If you answered yes to all of the questions above, then you should know Congressional Country Club is seeking a Sous Chef. The Sous Chef will primarily be responsible for supervising food production, and personnel (Team Members), assisting with food production tasks as needed, and assure that quality and cost standards are consistently attained.

Congressional Country Club is looking for Team Members that believe the impossible is possible. They are driven to continuously make a positive impact on the organization and believe that as a team we can accomplish more.

What will be expected of you:

  • Submit ideas for future goals, operational improvements, and personnel management to Executive Chef
  • Assist in the development of training and the provision of professional development opportunities for all kitchen staff
  • Lead and inspire front of house Team Members during daily line-ups
  • Prepare or directly supervise kitchen staff responsible for the daily preparation of soups, sauces, and specials
  • Assist the Executive Chef with monthly inventories, pricing, cost controls, requisitioning, and issuing for food production.
  • Assist the Executive Chef with supervision and training of employees, sanitation and safety, menu planning, and related production activities
  • Consistently maintain high standards of quality, cost, eye appeal, and flavor of foods
  • Ensure proper staffing for maximum productivity and high standards of quality; control food and payroll costs to achieve maximum profitability
  • Make recommendations for maintenance, repair, and upkeep of the kitchen and its equipment
  • Prepare reports and schedules, cost menus, and perform other administrative duties as assigned by the Executive Chef
  • Assist in food procurement, delivery, storage, and issuing of food items
  • Report all member/guest complaints to the Chef and assist in resolving complaints

How we determine your qualifications:

  • Advanced food ingredient knowledge
  • 2-4 Year Culinary Degree, preferred
  • 2 Years' experience as Jr. Sous or Sous Chef, required
  • Experience as Jr. Sous or Sous Chef in Hotel or Resort preferred
  • ServSafe or Similar Certificate preferred
  • Microsoft Office proficiency, working
