Overview

Responsible for filing medical record information in a timely manner to provide the most complete and accurate patient record possible and to allow for optimum patient care. To perform pre-certifications for outpatient procedures to ensure scheduling can be done efficiently.

Responsibilities

Accesses E-Chart to retrieve missing information from Health System for all departments.--------------------------------------------------Cooperates in departmental cross training. Serves as backup to PCC's when they are out or on PAL. Attends meetings as required.--------------------------------------------------Greets patients, visitors and fellow workers in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner.--------------------------------------------------Handles electronic medical records for callbacks or refills by appropriate staff.--------------------------------------------------Operates telephone system, facsimile machine, Internet, E-Chart, and word processing software. Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages and provides information.--------------------------------------------------Places dictation, test results, etc. on patient charts for physician review. Picks up and delivers mail from mailroom.--------------------------------------------------Prints daily patient schedule. Checks for add-on patients. Orders warehouse charts if appropriate.--------------------------------------------------Pulls charts as needed and prepares charts for patient visit. Creates labels and retrieves dictations to prepare LEC chart.--------------------------------------------------Receives and files paperwork from hospitals or other outside sources.--------------------------------------------------Receives requests for paperwork, locates needed information and sends to appropriate location. Copies progress notes, etc. for hospital encounters. --------------------------------------------------

Qualifications

EDUCATION:High School Diploma or equivalent, RequiredEXPERIENCE:1 year, Preferred1 year experience in the medical office preferred. 1 year clerical sorting and/or batching preferred.LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY/LISTING:REQUIREDPREFERRED
