Job Summary:
This is a remote position that provides subject matter expertise as a Senior Engineer within the Fleet Readiness Center Southeast Fleet Support Team organization. The general responsibilities of this position are to plan, coordinate, and/or provide extensive engineering expertise to Fleet Support Teams supporting acquisition, science and technology, test and evaluation, and/or in-service engineering on complex Naval aircraft and their associated systems.
Essential Job Functions:
· Solves specific and difficult engineering issues requiring substantial analysis and evaluation of causes, effects, and alternatives.
· Resolves broadly defined engineering problems that require modification or adaptation of, or compromise with, standard guides, precedents, methods, and techniques.
· Utilizes state of the art engineering analysis and investigative acumen to support findings and defend conclusions pertaining to work for which precedent data, criteria, methods, and techniques are often controversial or unknown.
· Identifies, plans, evaluates and prescribes corrective action for naval aircraft deficiencies of significant impact and consequence.
· Capable of performing necessary duties independently, as a member of a team, or in a technical lead role, depending upon the complexity of the project.
Other Job Functions:
Leads, coordinates, and/or participates in meetings to discuss engineering issues, problems, and deficiency resolution planning. Provides technical professional expertise and oversight to ensure the latest advancements in engineering technology are considered and implemented. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Qualifications/Education/Experience/Skills:
Bachelor of Science or higher degree in mechanical, aerospace or a related engineering field from an ABET accredited academic institution with 5 years of relevant work experience is required. Must be capable of obtaining and maintaining a Secret level security clearance.
Physical Requirements:
Physical demands are minimal. The work is mostly sedentary involving frequent telephone communication and preparation of written correspondence. There is an expectation to work within short time frames to meet technical deadlines and goals.
