Compass Business Solutions, Inc. is Hiring a Bartender (Back Alley Brewing Company) Near Dormont, PA

Back Alley Brewing Company is a microbrewery located in the former Dormont Borough Municipal Building at 2975 W. Liberty Ave. As the brewery grows, so does our team! We are looking for beer lovers who share our passion for brewing and sharing delicious craft beers with our community. 

Position Summary:

The Bartenderwill prepare alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages and light food options for bar and patrons in an efficient and safe environment. Interact with bar customers assessing needs and preferences and making recommendations. The anticipated start for this position will be on or around December 15, 2022.

Job description:

  • Welcome customers, read and listen to people to determine beverage preferences, make recommendations, and take orders
  • Prepare alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages for bar patrons
  • Prepare light food options for patrons
  • Pour all drinks based on the serving sizes as outlined in the company manual to maintain quality and consistency
  • Develop an efficient work pace that keeps the customers at the bar satisfied at all times
  • Check customers’ identification and confirm it meets legal drinking age requirements
  • Restock and replenish bar inventory and supplies
  • Inform customers about new beverages and specials
  • Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons; balance the cash register
  • Maintain a clean work and taproom area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment
  • Keep bar area clean in accordance with the company’s guidelines as well as the requirements of the local health department
  • Clean taproom, restrooms and other facility areas at the end of the night and as needed

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 
  • Experienced as a bartender is a plus
  • Must have completed or demonstrate willingness to complete RAMP certification within 2 months of hire
  • Able to obtain TIPS Alcohol Certification, RAMP Certification, and ServeSafe Certification

Required skills/abilities:

  • Computer and Point-of-Sale experience
  • Positive attitude and excellent communication skills
  • Ability to keep the bar organized, stocked and clean
  • Ability to respond calmly and professionally to emergencies, angry customers, or other stressful situations in the workplace
  • Demonstrate ability to multitask on a daily basis
  • Knowledge of beer styles and pouring standards
  • Knowledge of beer making is a plus

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

  • Ability to lift and change kegs (approximately 120 pounds) either independently or with the help of others
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Repetitive bending, lifting, reaching and pushing motions required
