Summary

The Fraud Analyst independently reviews and investigates suspected fraudulent activity. The Fraud Analyst will use various monitoring systems and reports to identify suspected fraudulent or suspicious activity. The Fraud Analyst will research the suspected fraudulent activity and take appropriate measures to validate transactions and prevent a loss. The Fraud Analyst then refers all confirmed fraudulent activity to the Fraud Investigator. The Fraud Analyst will also refer any suspicious, but not fraudulent, activity to the BSA/AML team.

• Monitor various fraud monitoring software for fraud alerts and review periodic reports.
• Interacts with credit union employees and members to verify suspected fraudulent activity.
• Refers confirmed fraudulent activity to the Fraud Investigator for further review.
• Identifies and reports increase in fraud trends to the Fraud Investigations Manager.
• Provides departments guidance on fraud related issues.
• Responsible for analyzing transactions and reviewing alerts for potential fraudulent activity.
• Refers potentially fraudulent activity to Fraud Investigators for further review.
• Assists in the development of new and/or updated policies and procedures related to fraud.
• Act as a back-up to Fraud Investigators and BSA/AML Analysts.
• Identify and recommend improvements to the credit union’s Fraud program.
• Assist in training opportunities with credit union employees on BSA/AML/fraud issues.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

• 3-5 years of banking experience
• 1-3 years of experience in BSA/AML, fraud, or related activity
• Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act compliance and various money laundering typologies
• Previous experience writing and/or reviewing regulatory filings
• Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), Certified Financial Crimes Investigator (CFCI), or Certified AML & Fraud Professional (CAFP) certification preferred or must be obtained within 2-years of employment.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Strong analytical skills and attention to details
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of Bank Secrecy Act and USA Patriot Act regulations.
• Ability to build strong relationships throughout the credit union, business membership, law enforcement, and other outside agencies.
• Ability to maintain confidential information.
• Ability to self-initiate and work independently with limited supervision.
• Excellent time management skills and the ability to work both independently and as a member of a team.
• Comfortable presenting to both small and large groups of credit union employees
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong spreadsheet and word processing skills.
