CommunityAmerica Credit Union is Hiring a Commercial Portfolio Manager Near Kansas, MO

Summary

The Commercial Portfolio Manager (CPM) in partnership Commercial Credit and Commercial Relationships Managers (CRM), is responsible for managing and servicing a portfolio of commercial clients, including expanding, building, and maintaining strong client relationships with a resulting high level of member satisfaction. This position equates to a CRM position in all aspects, with the exception, of external sales responsibilities for new business membership. The CPM develops and maintains long term business relationships with clients. Connects members to community resources that can provide needed education and advice enabling members to expand their business potential for future banking needs with CommunityAmerica. It is an expectation that the role with focus on continued development and depth of relationship with the assigned business members, while serving in a secondary support capacity on other more complex business member relationships.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Utilizes a high degree of critical thinking skills in managing a large portfolio of diverse and complex commercial relationships
  • Involved in member business calling activities to grow and deepen relationships.
  • The Portfolio Manager will serve as the primary advisor for a large number of smaller exposure commercial and business relationships, ensuring a high level of member satisfaction and retention within the portfolio. CPM will work with Director of Commercial Banking and VP – Commercial Credit Officer on an ongoing basis to assure that all appropriate products and services are being cross-sold to those relationships creating a highly engaged member (both business and personal).
  • Handles Member service requests for existing relationships, including loan renewals and modifications, as well as continued support and growth of these member relationships.
  • Works with the VP – Commercial Credit Officer on the portfolio management and opportunity pipeline associated with Participation Lending. This will include new relationship opportunities as well as management support of the existing portfolio of participated credits. May support the process of sold participations as needs and opportunities arise within the CommunityAmerica member business relationships
  • Additional responsibilities may include the support and management of 1-4 Family rental property loan opportunities as sourced through the member business channel as well as the CommunityAmerica branch network and referral sources
  • Assist in obtaining accurate and updated financial statements, credit reports, rent rolls and other financial information required to service commercial real estate loans and coordinate information with Commercial Credit Underwriters.
  • Completes all requirements of loan booking, including negotiating terms, the review of loan documentation and assisting in the closing process
  • Manages annual credit review schedule for credit assigned to the CPM portfolio. Prepares loan presentations and credit reviews as necessary, often with limited involvement from Commercial Credit Underwriters.
  • Handles reporting on loans, involving such things as past dues, documentation and collateral exceptions (tickler reporting/updating), and financial performance updates
  • Works with respective CRM’s and VP – Credit Officer in the credit management of Watch List credits
  • Work closely with the entire sales team to promote a high member experience through client calls, annual reviews, and responsiveness in a timely manner.
  • Work closely with Treasury Sales to fully bank Commercial Clients, providing them with tools to manage their cash flow through Treasury products and services.
  • Work closely with Private Banking to fully bank Business Owners, Employees, and those who make their business successful through the At Work program.
  • Provide education and advice to members related to financial products and connects them with community resources to help them build upon their business plans and strategies.
  • Work with other departments and outside vendors to increase service delivery, efficiency and profitability as required.
  • May support the draw processing and ongoing monitoring for real estate construction related loans.
  • Participate in business and community events.

Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Experience in Commercial Banking preferred, will consider more experienced applicants for a more senior level role
  • Experience with and knowledge of Commercial Real Estate lending (CRE)
  • Experience with and knowledge of Commercial & Industrial lending (C&I)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance. Significant direct experience or certifications may be considered in lieu of college degree.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of full range of commercial products, credit policies, procedures and terminology
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Well developed negotiation skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Good independent decision making skills, but requires some management oversight
  • Motivated and organized self-starter with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to all situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
  • Ability to effectively work as part of a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of small business and commercial banking products.
  • Strong knowledge of C&I and CRE loans with SBA experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of laws and regulations that govern lending.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to resolve interpersonal conflict and miscommunications.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Credit analysis background preferred.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 3-5 years of commercial banking experience
  • SBA experience
  • Completion of Graduate School of Banking programs, Risk Management Association (RMA) coursework specific to commercial lending, National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders (NAGGL) SBA Certifications, and/or other business lending programs is desirable
