THE POSITION

Reporting to the Chief Finance and Operations Officer (CFOO), this position assists the CFOO in managing the accounting and finance aspects of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee AP/AR functions
  • Maintain and audit internal AP/AR controls
  • Maintain accurate general ledger
  • Ensure timely month and year-end closing and reporting to projects.
  • Oversee preparation and filing of 1099s
  • Maintain a system of internal controls to ensure accurate financial statements and safeguarding of the organization’s assets
  • Coordinate with finance team to lead general annual audit and preparation of year-end tax and other regulatory reporting
  • Collaborate with HR team to reconcile 403b plan and provide auditors with 403b information as needed
  • Reconcile the monthly and quarterly payroll reports to the G/L, investigating and correcting variances
  • Prepare cash analysis reports for projects; educate project leaders and their staff in the principal theory of accounting as it relates to their project’s financial statements, and work with project leaders on all matters related to finance
  • Assists CFO in maintaining a system of internal controls to ensure accurate financial statements and safeguarding of the organization’s assets. Analyze and update (if needed) current processes in the finance department to mitigate against potential liabilities
  • Address questions project leaders have relating to accounts payable. Review and audit accounts payable preliminary report on weekly basis. Prepare and file 1099s
  • Work with projects to develop grant budgets, process approved revenue contracts, provide invoicing for federal contracts, and assist with budget modification if needed
  • Assess risk of project activities and ensure proper nonprofit compliance with laws
  • Review monthly new project proposals with program team. Assess each proposal to see if the potential projects are a fit with Community Partners
  • Conduct monthly new project orientation with Senior Finance Associates
  • Coordinate with finance team for annual audit and preparation of year-end tax and other regulatory reporting

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience in the nonprofit sector a plus. Must have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills as well as an acute ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. High level of experience with Word and Excel required. Experience with Certify, AccuFund, Go Global or other accounting software a plus. Ability to work well with others in a team environment and collaborate with program staff and others across the organization required. Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality required.

EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business-related field or equivalent experience. Must possess a minimum of eight years’ work experience in accounting or finance.
