We are a local nonprofit that has been serving adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1983. A Day in the Life of a Caregiver
Do you have a passion for helping others and promoting independence? As a Caregiver at Community Interface Services, you will have the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will work directly in the homes of our participants, providing support with cleaning, cooking, and personal care. But it's not just about the tasks - you'll also play a vital role in helping individuals build their independence and confidence within their own home. You will also help further increase independence by encouraging them to explore their local community, empowering them to experience new adventures and create meaningful connections.
If you are interested in having a human services career that helps people live a fulfilling life, this position may be a match for you. Full-time, part-time, and flexible work schedules are available, you set the days and times you are available to work, and we will match you with participants in need whether it be evenings, overnights, or weekends. This position earns a starting rate of $18.00/hour, with pay increase eligibility within the first year! Work available in the areas of Carlsbad, Vista, and Oceanside, CA.
Qualifications
To thrive in this social services role, there are a few key skills that are necessary for success. First and foremost, a high level of trustworthiness and integrity is essential in order to provide a safe and supportive environment for our participants. In addition, a solid work history and references that can attest to your dependability and reliability are crucial.
We are seeking individuals who are committed and dedicated to their work, ensuring that our participants receive the highest level of care and support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, as you will be working closely with individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The ability to listen actively, empathize, and effectively communicate information is vital in building strong relationships with our participants and their support networks.
Lastly, you will need to have a car in safe working order, vehicle insurance, a valid CA driver's license, and at least 2 years of driving experience. This is essential to assist our participants in accessing their local community and supporting them in their daily activities.
