EMPLOYEE JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Cook FLSA: Non-Exempt

Supervisor: Residential Administrator

Salary: Negotiable Quarterly bonuses

Note: COVID -19 Vaccination Required

Day Shift Hours: Monday- Friday 10AM - 6PM. 

Job Summary: Prepare and coordinate all food services for a 24-hour residential treatment facility which serves adults.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Ability to work non-traditional schedule as required by the residential facility including holidays as assigned.
2. Provide immediate crisis intervention and resolution if needed.
3. Maintain resident and staff confidentiality at all times.
4. Make sure all incoming agency telephone calls are answered.
5. Have legible handwriting.
6. Be able to do simple mathematics.
7. Be able to read and comprehend agency policy and procedures.

Specific Support Duties Required On Emergency Need or Specific

Assignment by Supervisor

1. Maintain records in keeping with agency guidelines.
2. Facilitate assigned group activity sessions and specialized resident events i.e. field trip, Christmas party, etc.
3. Provide individual resident contacts when appropriate to resident emergency needs.
4. Perform assigned residential activities which includes but is not limited to:
5. Reads daily log and documents any emergency interactions.
6. Attend scheduled staff meetings, community meetings, and trainings/conferences when on duty and as assigned.
7. Perform other duties as assigned.

Specific Duties of Cook:

1. Plan nutritious, well-balanced meals per WAC 246-316-170 and in consultation with a certified dietician.
2. Maintain all health practices and sanitation guidelines per agency kitchen license.
3. Maintain a sanitary and organized kitchen including routine cleaning of appliances and equipment.
4. Keep storage areas clean and well ordered.
5. Maintain year-to-date budgets per Supervisor input.
6. Post weekly menu plan for residents and file all menus for a minimum of 6 months.
7. Arrange for food pick-up at the donation sites.
8. Order food supplies one time per week.
9. Ensure menu supplies and preparation directions for other staff who cook.
10. Keep agency kitchen checklist per facility guidelines.
11. Encourage resident help in kitchen operations including meal preparation, clean-up, and dishwashing as part of agency life skills training.

Job Requirements:

1. Current First Aid and CPR cards.
2. Current Food Handlers Permit.
3. Current home phone/address.
4. Valid driver's license and clean driving record in order to use agency vehicles.
5. Documentation of personal insurance in order to use personal vehicle for member transport and to use agency vehicles.
6. Tuberculosis test.
7. Agree to permit Criminal Conviction Inquiry.
8. Be free of substance abuse.
9. A working knowledge and adherence to all agency policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. High School degree/GED.
2. 2 years' experience in institutional facility-based food services and/or ability to acquire such experience.
3. Ability to work independently and within a team.
