Community Blood Center of Greater Kansas City is Hiring a Training Specialist Near Kansas, MO

Under the supervision of the Manager of Training and Development, assists with the development and coordination of employee training, educational and development programs. Designs and delivers general and specialized training programs using a variety of methodologies appropriate for adult education. Maintains a supportive environment that encourages each employee's professional development.

Supports organizational quality efforts by accepting responsibility for 

  • reporting any problems relating to product, process and quality system, and
  • participating in implementation of solutions to problems.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

 Assists in planning, coordinating and conducting general and specialized employee training, education and development programs.

  • Uses a variety of basic training methodologies to achieve adult learning (i.e. lecture, group discussion, demonstration, observation, feedback, coaching, test/exam administration, and competency assessment).
  • Evaluates trainees to measure learning and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
  • Maintains current knowledge and skills specific to department technical training.
  • Assists departmental trainer with assigned technical training functions as needed.
  • Supervises trainees in practical learning experiences.
  • Provides verbal and written performance feedback to trainees and supervisors as appropriate. 
  • Serves as a role model for customer service and professionalism.
  • Develops, maintains and/or monitors adequate records of training and competency assessment.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Reviews student-completed work for accuracy and completion and cosigns applicable documents.

General Duties

  • Assists with establishing corporate training goals and planning strategies for meeting these goals.
  • Participates in community education programs as requested.
  • Creates, revises, and reviews documents for the Training and Development Department.
  • Assists in development of learning materials, programs, courses, training guides, and competency assessments.
  • Maintains knowledge of and observes all applicable regulations, requirements and standards.
  • Assists with special projects as needed.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor or Associates Degree in organizational development, human resources, education, basic or applied science or other related field preferred

Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Advanced presentation and public speaking skills
  • Counseling and advising skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist area (e.g. DRS, lab, etc.)

Knowledge

  • Adult education theory and practice
  • Current training and employee development issues, concepts and methods
  • training development and design
  • Principles of leadership, motivation, team building and conflict resolution
  • Computers, audio visual equipment and other technical equipment used in training.

Experience

Two years’ experience in a health care or training profession; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous experience in a teaching/training role in specialty preferred.
