Who We Are Looking For:

A servant leader who is willing to collaborate closely with the leadership team to create and drive long-term strategies that are consistent with the mission and vision of CommunityAid. Combining both day-to-day financial operations and strategic planning, you will oversee all financial aspects of the organization, ultimately ensuring our resources are managed in the most beneficial way to maximize the support that we can provide to our local non-profit partners.

Provide Leadership Through Experience & Character

  • Serve as a member of CommunityAid’s Leadership Team.
  • Provide strategic oversight by developing financial strategies and plans that will effectively support both short and long-term financial performance.
  • You will help identify, recommend, and implement strategic and operational enhancements in order to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization, thus enhancing the ability to meet goals to support the mission.
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to internal business owners, including driving financial accountability through all areas.

    Serve as our Financial Expert to Financial Constituents
  • Build relationships with current and prospective financial institutions, lenders, external accountants, auditors and attorneys, as applicable.
  • Direct financial reporting, accounting, accounts payable, payroll, treasury, budgeting, and financial planning.

    Build and Maintain an Effective Financial Function
  • As a servant leader, model and teach core behaviors.
  • Use your experience to provide actionable and insightful financial analysis, meeting compliance standards and ensures appropriate internal controls.
  • Share information and insights across the company to ensure effective cost management.
  • Ensure CommunityAid maintains accounting and financial systems that meet the needs of management and other interested constituents.
  • Ensure CommunityAid maintains a system of internal accounting controls sufficient to provide reasonable assurance that its assets are safeguarded, properly accounted for, and used in accordance with management’s authorization.
  • Facilitate the relationships between each employee and the organization to see what it will take for each employee to be successful.
  • Create opportunities in the organization for individuals to learn new topics and grow their careers.
  • Develop an organization climate that appreciates and leverages variety in background, styles and perspectives.

    About CommunityAid
  • CommunityAid is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded on the mission of Neighbors Helping Neighbors by accepting donations to create quality jobs, offering an affordable shopping experience, and supporting non-profit partners serving our local community. We employ over 400 employees across our 6 Central Pennsylvania thrift stores and have created a partner network of over 500 non-profit organizations. Since 2009, we have donated over $20million to our non-profit partners in order to support these organizations in growing, supporting, and fostering the communities in which they provide services such as those suffering from food insecurity, basic needs, and housing.


  • Embraces CommunityAid’s mission.
  • Live in Central PA with a hybrid office (CommunityAid locations and home office).
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA, MBA or CMA a plus.
  • CFO experience: 5 plus years.
  • History of developing well-functioning financial teams.
  • Comfortable working across several technologies. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, and financial modeling.
  • Experience with working in general ledgers and budgeting software. Experience with NetSuite a plus.
