Corporate Engagement Manager (Development/Fundraising) 

Position Overview

Common Threads is seeking a highly motivated Corporate Engagement Manager to effectively solicit and retain corporate investments in Common Threads through management of a corporate prospect and funder portfolio. 

The person in this position will engage in prospect research, outreach, and cultivation of new corporate partnerships, as well as steward current corporate relationships across all of Common Threads’ markets. The manager will develop engaging relationships with the funders, overseeing partner benefits, arranging for volunteer opportunities when appropriate, and implementing cause marketing and other special activities.

This entrepreneurial ‘A-player’ will be an integral part of Common Threads’ national Development Team and will report to the Director of Development. The Corporate Engagement Manager will also work closely with other Development team members, the Communications team and with Program Managers who implement our work on the ground in 10 U.S. markets. The person will also work closely with Common Threads’ boards to secure funding and will help to develop a regional board in New York.

Common Threads is hiring one person to fill this position. Preferred location is in one of the following markets: Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, or Chicago. This role will be a remote/work from home position (with office availability in NYC), and will include occasional travel to other Common Threads markets, as needed. Responsibilities:

  • Manage the identification, cultivation, acquisition, and stewardship of a portfolio of new and existing corporate partners for all target markets (currently Chicago, Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, Austin, Dallas, El Paso) to support the Development team in meeting annual corporate revenue goal

  • Articulate the mission and activities of Common Threads to diverse corporate and community audiences through group presentations and individual conversations, as well as in proposals, reports or other written requests

  • Prepare Leadership Team members and Program Managers for cultivation, solicitation, and/or stewardship conversations/activations, as needed

  • Seek out new and innovative ways to develop revenue streams with existing and new corporate partners, including through cause marketing, event sponsorships, employee giving and other special activations

  • Work with Communications team to revise (when necessary), manage and fulfill partner benefits and manage or co-manage cause marketing and other activations with the Communications and Programs teams

  • Record accurate and timely entries of account information in CRM, including contacts, deadlines for all application materials and reports, and key recognition and outreach activities

  • Organize and execute special projects that support the greater Development team as appropriate

  • Support other Development Team members, as needed

  • Engage in organization-wide events, workshops, and committees

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required

  • Three or more years of experience in managing funder relationships, with experience with corporate funders preferred

  • Experience developing funding proposals (e.g. writing grant requests and letters of inquiry, developing proposal slide decks, etc.)

  • Creativity - willingness to brainstorm and work with corporate partners to develop compelling and engaging partnerships for both CT and the funder

  • Experienced relationship manager, with demonstrated past responsibility for externally-facing partnerships or stakeholders

  • Demonstrated experience earning new funding

  • Demonstrated experience with project and account management

  • Ability to work within a mission-driven environment to develop professional and respectful relationships with people both internal and external to Common Threads

  • Experience working with culturally diverse audiences

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, including facility manipulating Office/Windows and Google/other web-based donor management platforms, as well as basic composition and design programs including PowerPoint and/or Canva

  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM

  • Experience and/or high comfort level working virtually with internal and external team members

  • This position maintains a traditional work week schedule (generally 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday), but may require some weekend and evening work for special projects and events.
