Description

The Health & Safety Manager participates and contributes to improve the activities, of health, safety, security, and environmental efficiency as well as handles all the regulatory requirements for all of the Comfort Research manufacturing facilities.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Demonstrates the Core Values of Comfort Research in daily actions, execution of tasks and interactions with others.
  • Ensures manufacturing plant is compliant with all required Municipal, State and Federal Health and Safety legislation and legal requirements.
  • Documents and communicates all applicable Health and Safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements, as applicable and achieve excellent sustainable results.
  • Practices and implements an established 5S and Safety Program consistent with Comfort Research values, processes and corporate procedures.
  • Conducts on site audits and proactively identify opportunities for improvement and hazard avoidance related to Health and Safety.
  • Chairs the Joint Health and Safety Committee. Is an active member of the soon to be established Corporate Enterprise Joint Health and Safety Committee.
  • Reports incidents monthly for corporate consolidation of incident reporting. Follows through to ensure actions taken to prevent incidents are managed, implemented and effective.
  • Partners with Operations and HR to ensure health and safety regulatory standards are reviewed routinely and policies and procedures are either updated or created to ensure company wide compliance with directives.
  • Partners with applicable groups within Comfort Research to create systems and processes to address unique health and safety risks such as COVID-19.
  • Partners to inform corporate environmental policies. Creates site specific environmental policies and practices.
  • Responsible for ensuring site level compliance with applicable environmental regulations including but not limited to waste management, recycling, wastewater, air emissions, etc.
  • Preparing all regulatory required environmental reports and permits for sites.
  • Conducts / Participates in Environmental Audits of the plant
  • Security Champion - ensures Comfort Research Facilities are always secure and safe.
  • Identifies possible opportunities where the security of the facility and the assets within the facility can be improved.
  • Provides the oversight to implement the required changes to the process or to the facility to improve overall security.
  • Lives Comfort Research Core Values and leads by example.
  • Supports Operations team in shared goals & initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Sustainability or equivalent; minimum of 5 years in Environmental, Health & Safety leadership in a manufacturing setting.
  • Master Degree in Occupational Health & Safety is a plus
  • Multi-site, both office and manufacturing management experience highly preferred.
  • Mandatory active status as a Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or equivalent),
  • Proven success with EHS performance improvements and experience with Behavior Based Safety Programs
  • Demonstrated success with the creation of corporate level EHS management systems as well as the practical implementation of EHS policies and procedures at the operational levels of an organization.
  • Adaptive training skills to deliver effective EHS content to diverse audiences.
  • Experience with Hazardous Waste programs and procedures a plus.
  • Experience with RCRA and Hazwoper training a plus.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Accounting software and other web-based applications. Concur/ SAP experience is a plus.
  • Communicates clearly and effectively (both verbal and written)
  • Maintains a sense of urgency in resolving issues
  • Key attention to detail and accuracy in the generation of written documents and oral communications
  • Maintains flexibility in work schedule to accommodate occasional weekend, early morning and evening project completion
  • Able to perform occasional light physical activities (lifting, carrying, bending, climbing, crawling, etc.)
  • Strong organization skills and effective at Multi-tasking
  • Positive attitude, cooperative and service oriented

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, and walk. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and smell.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
