Job Title: Staff Accountant

A COMANCO Staff Accountant will work in a team environment, receiving on-going support, guidance, and training from dedicated Leadership.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION:

The function of the Staff Accountant is to ensure the department creates accurate and timely financial accounting records for The COMANCO Group and its subsidiaries (including affiliated entities). The Staff Accountant prepares financial statements in accordance with the mission, core values, and purposes of the Company. The Staff Accountant compiles and analyzes financial information, develops integrated revenue/expense analyses, projections, reports, and presentations, and creates and analyzes monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The principal duties and responsibilities of the Staff Accountant consist of, but are not limited to, the following:

• Performs general cost accounting and other related duties for the organization.
• Codes invoices, sets up new accounts, and reconciles accounts.
• Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (i.e., by assets, liabilities, and expenses)
• Create new jobs, update jobs, and close jobs.
• Reconciles bank accounts, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
• Manages accounts receivable collections.
• Verifies and/or completes payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Conduct month-end and year-end closures.
• Prepare documents for audits.
• Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
• Attend all scheduled meetings.
• Perform other duties and special projects, as assigned by Management.

Accounting Department Backup:

Maintain a working knowledge of each position in the Accounting Department and provide backup to each position, as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS:

• Education and/or Experience: Associate Degree in accounting, business, or similar combination of experience & education in the construction industry or other similar environment. 3 years of experience in financial operations related to construction accounting.
• Computer Skills: Skilled knowledge to use computers and related technology, accounting systems, administrative software, database software; word processing software, spreadsheets, ad Microsoft Office Suite. Working knowledge on use of the internet.
