Job Title: Chief Financial Officer
The Chief Financial Officer manages the accounting department's functions and processes by recording and reporting the Company's financial activities. Through interaction with the President and other management, the CFO plans, budgets, and analyzes the company's financial needs. The CFO provides enhanced financial and operational management reporting and analysis, and through interaction with management, develops, implements, and monitors performance standards, including assisting with the development of performance-based compensation schemes. The CFO collaborates with the President and other management to define, plan, execute the Company's visions and goals.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The principal duties and responsibilities of the CFO consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide leadership to the Company's financial and accounting team members.
- Train personnel in accounting to maximize utilization of company information technology systems.
- Address Accounting personnel issues and ensure Company is following Federal and State employment regulations per the company handbook.
- Assist the President and management in the establishment of a formal training process and career pathing for motivated team members, then administering and managing training processes.
Accounting/Finance/Treasury Responsibilities
- Ensure the Company's accounting processes capture necessary data in an efficient and timely manner.
- Interact with Department Managers, Vice Presidents, and Project Managers to review accuracy of financial statement information and obtain the best information for cash flow, billings, and income forecasts.
- Design and review financial and operational reports including monthly financial statements ensuring timely preparation.
- Prepare bank ratios and perform monthly computation of solvency, efficiency, and profitability ratios.
- Assure completion of monthly and annual statements of cash flow, (FMI Model) operating budgets and capital expenditure budgets monitoring actual results to budgeted results. Prepare analysis of results to President for review.
- Monitor and coordinate with President and Vice Presidents on equipment budgeting, costing, utilization, and reporting. Make monthly recommendations on allocations and other costing issues. Prepare a monthly report on cost reduction opportunities.
- Accurately predict corporate cash requirements.
- Responsible for overall financial and tax planning, including planning for making quarterly tax payments.
- Prepare and review for timeliness and accuracy all tax returns and estimated tax payments prior to submission to President.
- Prepare annual corporate budget. Prepare monthly comparison of actual expenses versus budgeted expenses.
- Manage the cash flows and balance of cash of the company
- Provides outside CPA firm all necessary information to perform annual audit.
Strategic Responsibilities
- Act as a lead with Executive management in developing and maintaining Company Five Year Business Plan:
- Monitor established key performance and other financial indicators; follow up where standards are not being obtained, assist President and Management evaluate causes and solutions. Assist President and Management with development, implementation, and monitoring of performance-based compensation plans for Vice Presidents, Department Managers, Project Managers and Supervisors.
- Analyze and project financial resources needed and secure resources from financial or other institutions.
- Maintain contact and communication with key Company advisors and professional providers, including attorneys, accountants, and insurance agents.
- Lead in planning the objectives, methods, and resources of short- and long-range financial operations of the company.
- Lead in planning long-range economic trends to project their impact on future growth in sales and market share.
General Responsibilities
- Participate in professional organizations, seminars, and meetings that provide the company with advanced approaches and opportunities.
- Establish and maintain Certified Public Accountant (CPA) relationships.
- Responsible for Risk Management of all Accounting functions.
- Establish and maintain existing banking relationships.
- Embrace technology to enhance all Accounting functions and find efficiencies in Accounting workflows.
- Oversee and verify all Accounting SOPs are completed, updated, and utilized.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree or higher in accounting or finance.
- Experience: Minimum fifteen years accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to delegate, motivate and inspire team members.
- Honesty and integrity.
