CommuniCare Health Center Careers is Hiring a Director of OB/GYN Residency Program MFM Physician (PH0171- West) Near San Antonio, TX

The Director of OB/Gyn Residency Program and Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) is responsible for oversight of the OB/Gyn Residency Program and the diagnosis and treatment of high risk or complicated pregnancies. Ensures proper care and provides consultation for complications associated with pregnancy. May assist in maternal transport or prenatal diagnosis through the use of ultrasounds and/or genetic counseling. Delivers babies, determining the method most appropriate to ensure health and safety of both infant and mother. 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Examines, diagnoses, treats and/or refers patients assigned to physician’s panel, on an in-patient and out-patient basis prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assess medical conditions. Assures continuity of care by providing medical services on a timely basis as per Clinic schedule within the Center’s scope of practice and the mid-levels training.

2. Responsible for working with the Director of Graduate Medical Education and Director of Graduate Medical Education to assure that the mission and vision of CommuniCare is communicated and practiced by the Residents, Fellows and clinical staff. Ensure optimal productivity, patient satisfaction and service excellence scores are achieved.

3. Provide or ensure the provision of specialty specific level-appropriate education of residents in the residency programs, ensuring that such education adequately prepares Residents (in conjunction with their own studying), for the specialty board exams as well as for active clinical practice.

4. Supervise Residents while ensuring the quality of care provided by residents in the program is of the highest caliber, and that lapses in quality are appropriately investigated, resolved, and used to improve processes and education. Provide didactic instruction for residents as assigned. Timely evaluations with documentation and review of Residents performance.

5. Follows established departmental and clinic policies, procedures, and objectives; continuous quality improvements objectives and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Maintains appropriate productivity standards of specialty as established by the Center; maintains appropriate and efficient patient flow and minimize schedule changes and absences.

6. Supports the organization by participating in at least two (2) health promotional, education and /or prevention programs (i.e. Diabetes collaborative / Health Fairs etc.) or organizational events (i.e. Annual Gala, Wellness Program, Annual giving drive, CommuniCaring for Each Other, etc.) Lastly, punctually attending and participating monthly / departmental meetings and other clinic functions as required by the Center.

7. Advocates provider and/or Resident concerns and issues, and monitors standards of performance and quality of patient care through a peer review system when appropriate. 

8. Generates and/or recommends medical protocols to govern the delivery of clinical care throughout the Center that are consistent with standards of care; participates in analysis of community health problems and in the development of the Center’s Strategic Plan and other Project Plans, develops and reviews the Center’s budget, fee schedules and staffing patterns appropriate for patient care.

9. Provides excellent internal and external customer service at all times.

10. Completes thorough documentation of each patient’s visit in the electronic health record and ensures encounters are closed within 24 hours in accordance with the Center’s established Health Information Management policies and procedures.

11. Addresses UDS and HEDIS clinical measures at all patient visits and attain the highest compliance rates which are tracked daily on the dash boards.

12. Daily review of PAQ’s (lab and x-ray reports for patients under his/her care on a timely basis and makes medical management decisions appropriately) Assure coverage of PAQ’s when out of office or on PTO. Refers clients for appropriate specialty care services and any other ancillary services that are appropriate for patient’s management and care consulting with supervising physician as needed.

13. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

M.D. or D.O. degree from an accredited Medical School

Must possess a current unrestricted license to practice Medicine in the State of Texas

Board Certified in Maternal Fetal Medicine by the American Board of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ABOG). 

Minimum 5 years’ experience as an OB/GYN physician

Minimum 2 years’ experience supervising clinicians preferred 

Strong experience with EMR/EMR systems

Ability to teach and work with residents and medical students

Knowledge of budgets and fiscal management preferred

Annual continuing medical education as required by Board specialty

Must be registered and have current DEA and other such certificates to legally operate a practitioner in the State of Texas

Hospital privileges at designated area hospitals if required for specialty

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred 

Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), American Heart Association

REQUIRED PHYSICAL AND MENTAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as typing or picking up small objects. Normal fine and gross motor control of fingers and hands.

Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.

Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.

Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

Visual: Visual acuity necessary for the proper evaluation of a patient and to prepare or inspect documents or other materials. Ability to accurately view computer monitors

Physical: Sitting 20-30% of time and standing, walking 70-80% of time. Lift up to 25 lbs; push and pull up to 45 lbs. Able to bend at the waist, twist and turn along axial plane.
