Coloscapes Concrete is Hiring a Project Engineer Near Wellington, CO

Compensation Range: $65,000 and up (DOE)

We began tackling the entire concrete process including structural foundations, flatwork, and any components of site concrete. What is this role? The Project Engineer will be responsible for monitoring activities at construction sites and working to ensure construction processes are adhered to. Also, inspects construction sites daily and works with Superintendents, Foremen, and Field Crew to ensure Company quality standards are met.

What are some of the essential job duties? 

  • Perform layout of all concrete work to precede field crews (includes prepping and uploading the CAD file, creating offsets or additional points as needed, and staking those points at all foundation corners, wall edges, sleeve locations, anchor bolts, slab components, etc.)
  • Perform as-built drawings as needed to verify conformance with construction documents, such as cut/fill requirements, proposed and existing utility locations, and any pre-existing items within the work area.
  • Implement quality management techniques and a structured approach.
  • Review and interpret project drawings and specifications and coordinate with field crews to ensure the documents are being followed.
  • Identify, track, and capture actual project progress for use in further scheduling.
  • Define and evaluate factors that may result in cost change.
  • Create, review, and manage project material submittals.
  • Create, review, and manage project RFIs.
  • Assist Superintendent/PM with setup and managing deliveries, track quantities of material on-site, and reorder as needed prior to starting work.
  • Assist Superintendent/PM and oversee fieldwork through tracking production numbers, evaluating site access and preparation, identifying processes that run inefficiently, and suggesting ways to increase quality. Share these concerns with the Estimator / Project Manager.
  • Manage small-size crew.
  • Assist Estimator(s) with Invitations to Bid and price solicitations.
  • Create clear, accurate, and thorough daily reports with pictures and documentation.
  • Upload drawings, label pages, and perform takeoffs from plans using Planswift.
  • Prepare estimates and bids in conjunction with the Estimator to expedite the proposal process.
  • Identify basic project risks associated with project costs and safety.
  • Maintain job site safety by participating in daily stretching, site safety audits, completing pre-task cards, pre-planning work, participating in toolbox talks, and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Manage the punch list and punch list process.
  • Maintain and develop pre-pour checklist forms and procedures and ensure completion and acceptance prior to concrete placement.
  • Develop departmental standard operating procedures.
  • Enforce safety requirements as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned and required.

Desired Qualifications: 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Preferred
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
    • 3 years of experience in an engineer position.
    • 3 years of concrete industry experience.
  • Required
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Proficient in other computer programs, such as: layout, estimating, and project management software.
  • Skills and Continuing Education:
    • Learn the positions responsibilities within 30 days.
    • Accomplish tasks with minimal supervision.
    • Continue your own education.
    • Be able to operate laser, surveying equipment, etc.
  • Certifications – To obtain the following during employment:
    • OSHA 30 Hour
    • Forklift Operator
    • Skid Steer Operator
