Description

The School Social Worker works under the supervision of the Director of Student Services and is responsible for helping student return to class emotionally safe and providing students with skills to cope with mental health and social stressors.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Student Services, to provide students, parents, administrators, and other teaching staff support with implementing and completing safety plans, MTSS Behavior and Social Emotional Plans, and threat assessments.

Job Duties:

• Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website.
• Supports students with emotional regulation, peer relationships, and decision making skills.
• Works with students and staff to facilitate communication and structures for conflict resolution.
• Assisting classroom teacher with teaching students time management and organizational skills and supporting students needing additional outside instruction in those areas through regular check-ins.
• Crisis intervention for students and families as emergencies arise.
• Serves as ready resource to students to provide counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and maturity.
• Assists students and teaching staff in implementing students' behavior management plans.
• Coordinates with outside agencies, organizations and institutions, including state and federal authorities as needed.
• Serves as ready resource to students and parents to provide short term counseling that will lead each student to increased personal growth, self-understanding, and behavioral management; serves as liaison between home and school.
• Continues to acquire professional knowledge and learn of current developments in the educational field by attending seminars, workshops or professional meetings, or by conducting research, and by maintaining professional relationships.
• Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and providing student information to prospective colleges and employers, as required by CEC procedures and applicable laws.
• Assists in the orientation of new teachers, and provides in-service training in guidance.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Student Services and other administrators

Qualifications

Qualifications:

• Masters degree in Social Work.
• Colorado School Social Worker License through Colorado Department of Education.
