Position Purpose
The Payroll Specialist works under the supervision of the Director of Benefits and Compensation and is responsible for overseeing the process of payroll for all employees. The Payroll Specialist will use payroll software to schedule automatic payments, calculate employee payroll taxes and remove a portion of each payment to go towards insurance and benefits.

Job Duties

  • Upholds CECs beliefs found on the CEC website
  • Employs CECs mission statement in all decisions
  • Process payroll each month for CEC employees
  • Conduct monthly payroll meetings with heads of school to discuss payroll issues and concerns
  • Perform pre-payroll audits and error checking procedures for full-time, part-time and salary and timecard employees for monthly payroll processing
  • Collaborate with HR and finance teams for efficient processes and reporting
  • Obtain all supporting documents for reimbursements and extra pay items including wage garnishments
  • Implement necessary payroll and grant processes
  • Verify all hourly employees submitted hours for accuracy; correct any discrepancies
  • Address and resolve employee complaints relating to the payroll system
  • Manage Personnel Action Form Dashboard in Paycom
  • Address and resolve any and all issues with system conversions
  • Finalize payroll file and upload for bank submission
  • Run PERA verification report prior to finalizing payroll in order to verify PERA contribution numbers (Employee and Employer) are accurate
  • Manage set up of timecards/timesheets and make sure supervisors are approving all hours by payroll deadline
  • Complete verifications of employment for network employees
  • Provide reason for separation to CO Unemployment and verify reporting
  • Verify accurate data in both of our software systems (Paycom and SDS)

Conditions of Employment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll or similar field preferred.
  • Experience with Paycom software preferred.
  • Must have attention to details.
