What you will do: We are looking for an Staff Accountant like you who can help shape our vision and support our mission. Here is what the day-to-day functions will look like: Compiles periodic regulatory reports for Colorado Access’ insurance subsidiary, New Health Ventures, Inc. (NHV). This includes quarterly and annual statements/supplements filed with the Colorado Department of Insurance and National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). Processes payment using QNXT/HRP for approved claims on a weekly basis which includes initiating payment, monitoring and ensuring payment files are successfully transferred and payments are authorized timely. Also includes running reports and reconciling detail back to the claims system. Provides internal communication of claim payment summaries to interested parties. Acts as a provider liaison; responds to provider requests regarding voids and reissues, payment and credit balance questions and assists with reissue of expired VCC payments. Processes periodic payments for various healthcare entities that are outside the claims system. Prepares entries and analysis during the monthly close process. Prepares and files periodic sales and use tax returns for certain jurisdictions, including remitting payments when applicable. Assumes lead role for related sales and use tax audits. Maintains the fixed asset records for the company, prepares related journal entries and prepares all property tax filings. Analyzes various balance sheet accounts and researches the cause of any variances. Prepares monthly reconciliations for key balance sheet accounts. Researches and corrects any discrepancies, as needed. Reviews bank statements, deposit records, etc. as they pertain to Accounts Receivable. Prepares journal entries to record AR invoices and associated deposits. Assists with tax provision calculations and tax returns for NHV and the for-profit corporations. Responsible for all aspects of accounting related to newly formed Foundation under Colorado Access, including preparing journal entries, monitoring receipts and expenses, reviewing monthly bank statement for accuracy and completeness and preparing periodic financial statements and related materials for presentation to the Board and State. Supports preparation of the IRS Form 990-PF. Manages unclaimed property process, including communications, reissue of checks as needed and remittance to states. Document and record returned checks, including provider refunds, and work with Claims area to resolve. Participates in audits as necessary.Serves as back-up for Accounts Payable functions, including ensuring that invoices and check requests are efficiently processed for payment each week. Assists CFO and Controller with projects. What you will bring: Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or closely related business field. Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may substitute with a preference for three to five years progressive relevant work experience. Experience: Two to four years related work experience, preferably in health care, health insurance, or medical field. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Solid understanding of generally accepted accounting principles required. Position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, proven problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Demonstrates support for the company’s mission, vision and values. Must have strong organizational and time management skills. Proficient in the use of PC's including MS-Office applications (Word, and Excel) and accounting related software. May be required to manage multiple priorities and projects with tight deadlines. Licenses/Certifications: A valid driver's license and proof of current auto insurance will be required for any position requiring driving. Pay, Perks and Benefits at Colorado Access: The compensation for this position is $70,000.00 to $80,000.00 annually. The pay rate/salary is commensurate with experience.
