Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and surveillance of the Quality Management System for CS West activities. The Quality Assurance Manager CS West oversees the day-to-day operations of the Quality Assurance Department and performs/assign tasks as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, implement, and revise the Quality Management System for CS West work as needed.
• Supports requirements and inputting of information into the Navy’s NMD database.
• Generates, reviews and/or submits Process Control Procedures, Test and Inspection Plans, Required Report Lists, Condition Reports.
• Conducts, schedules, or attends checkpoints including subcontractor checkpoints.
• Generates and maintain authorized Inspectors list for CS West.
• Supports and performs requirements for CS Welding program, provides information to Colonna’s Shipyard Norfolk as requested.
• Supports Calibration requirements and provides documents and information to Colonna’s Shipyard as needed.
• Train Quality Assurance and Production personnel on Quality Plans, Procedures, Work Instructions, Contracts and Customer requirements as needed.
• QMS Training for new employees as needed
• Liaison between Colonna’s Shipyard and the customer to answers and investigates customer discrepancies, concerns, or issues
• Represents the organization at Quality functions both internal & external
• Schedules and/or conducts internal audits and surveillance.
• Maintain documents, records, and audit data as required. Provids copies to Colonna’s Shipyard as needed.
• Holds Quality Team meetings, as needed, to discuss a variety of quality issues including past audits, senior management review meetings, status of CAR’s, OFI’s, and other quality issues. Provides quality services as may be requested by Senior Management
• Prepares the Quality Assurance Department to meet external certification or customer audit requirements
• Assist in preparing Management Reviews by providing CS West information.
• Other job-related tasks as assigned

Qualifications

• 5-7 years experience in manufacturing, engineering services or technical field, which includes 5 years performing in a role with quality related responsibilities.
• Knowledge of quality techniques and systems, including quality specifications and/or advanced quality systems.
• Ability to lead effective corrective action using disciplined problem-solving methods and statistical analysis.
• In-depth knowledge of ISO 9001 Standards.
• ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification preferred
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication and writing skills.
• Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office products.
• Related Department of Defense experience including direct experience with government customer relations strongly preferred.
• NACE, NBPI Paint Certifications and/or Non-destructive Testing Certifications, VT, MT, PT, or UT not required but preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heavy machinery, heights, noise, dust, dirt, fumes, gases, smoke, and confined spaces. There will be an exposure to extreme weather conditions. Must be able to climb up and down stairs, ladders, and spend time moving throughout the facility and on-board marine vessels.
