Overview
Since opening our doors in 1979, Collins Engineers, Inc. has provided engineering services in structural and transportation analysis and design. Today, Collins is an ENR Top 500 Design Firm that continues to grow our multi-disciplined firm by providing design and analysis services coupled with field experience to the transportation, marine, construction, and land development industries.
The Chicago, IL office has an opening for an Information Technology Intern position for the Summer of 2023. We are looking for a college student who is passionate about technology and service excellence with a future career goal of working in information technology. This role will support our teams around the country by utilizing IT operations monitoring and management tools to provide technical troubleshooting oversight, setting up new computer configurations, vendor and employee interactions, maintenance, and system updates. This position will also provide support for ongoing IT projects.
Position Description
TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Assists staff with providing computer hardware, software and technical support.
- Provides help desk support.
- Installs and troubleshoots problems with office software systems, including installing new applications, installing upgrades and assisting users to solve software problems.
- Sets up new workstations.
- Conducts inventory of all technological equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Freshman or sophomore working towards a bachelor's degree in an Information Technology field from an accredited four-year university.
- Must have experience with the following software:
- Microsoft Office Suite
- Microsoft Windows
- Previous experience with the following software is a plus:
- Microsoft Windows Server
- Windows PowerShell ISE
- Microsoft Active Directory
