Collaborative Support Programs is Hiring a Peer Recovery Specialist (Mental Health Services) Near Paterson, NJ

Description

This position works directly with the Center Managers and in collaboration with peer mentors and members to plan and implement peer recovery supports and linkages. This position also works to develop community resources and partnerships to meet the needs of the center members. Acts as a liaison to the community including Police, State, County, providers and family. This role will assist members through crisis connected to substance use disorder, refer and accompany people for services, administer Narcan when needed (will be trained and certified), provide trainings on Alcohol and Drug disease and train the membership on the negative health and social consequences of dependence on alcohol and drugs.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate in English, both oral and written.
  • Knowledge of Wellness, the behavioral health system and community resources in the region.
  • Ability to make and maintain contacts and positive relationships with individuals pursuing recovery and those who provide services to them.
  • Basic computer skills or the ability to learn skills.
  • Valid NJ Driver’s License required to perform job duties.
  • Certification as a peer specialist in substance use disorders or Mental Health is desired.
  • A person with lived experience or direct experience receiving services from the mental health and/or addictions treatment system is strongly preferred.
  • Employees must obtain their first dose of the primary series of a COVID-19 vaccination by their start date
