Coffee & Water Lab (CWL) provides guests generous hospitality to create an exceptional and memorable drinking experience.

We are actively searching for baristas to help us successfully establish our flagship CWL location.

Responsibilities:

• Provides superior customer service and a third-wave beverage experience for every guest

• Prepares and serves a curated selection of coffee and tea beverages using a variety of different brewing methods

• Acts with kindness, honesty, and passion while creating an environment of collaboration and education that makes each team member look forward to coming to work daily

• Maintains regular and consistent attendance and punctuality

• Continuously builds coffee and tea expertise to provide expert knowledge regarding drink preparation methods, origin stories, extraction techniques, and craft beverage making technology

• Listens and speaks with guests, reading customer cues and asking probing questions to uncover what guests really want and how to make them happy

• Expresses composure and a calm demeanor even during periods of high-volume

• Helps establish preparation protocols and guidelines to consistently deliver a superior experience for guests

• Follows health, safety, and sanitation guidelines and standards

• Keeps a clean work area and helps maintain an attractive and well-run shop - tasks vary but may include washing utensils, sweeping, dusting, mopping, cleaning equipment, organizing inventory, and taking out the trash

Qualifications:

• Ability to bend, twist, squat, reach, crawl, push/pull, and stand without limitation and for long periods of time

• Full use of hands to perform precision work, including stirring drinks, operating state-of-the-art coffee and tea brewing equipment, preparing ingredients, and operating the register

• Ability to lift, push/pull, carry, and/or move up to 25 pounds consistently.

• Specialty retail and/or service entertainment industry experience (e.g. cafe, restaurant, bar, theater, or hospitality)

• Ability to work multiple positions within the store, performing different tasks during a single shift
• Ability to follow instructions and guidelines.

• Basic math and computer skills, reading, writing, and English language proficiency

• Available to work flexible hours which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

• Learns quickly with close attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships quickly

• Ability to memorize complex menus, ingredients, beverage & food builds

• Existing California Food Handler's Certification or certification within 30 days post-hire
