CODA, Inc. is Hiring a Nurse Practitioner Near Hillsboro, OR

We are currently recruiting for a Nurse Practitioner (part-time) to perform admission and annual medical evaluations for patients enrolled in an Opioid Treatment Program (OTP), provide ongoing assessment of patient response to medications, work closely with nursing staff and medical director to address patient medical needs, collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment team to support patient progress in treatment. This position will be responsible for assisting in development medical procedures and for providing training to other staff.

This individual will fulfill the following essential functions:

  • Conduct medical assessment and physical examination for newly admitted patients prior to induction onto opioid replacement therapy. Assess medical needs and risks and create a plan for stabilization, monitoring, and treatment engagement.
  • Coordinate with Medical Director or Program Physician to facilitate medication induction orders or changes to medication dose.
  • Facilitate medication reconciliation and approval, order required and supplementary lab tests and follow up on those with abnormal results.
  • Annually evaluate patient response to treatment and make recommendations for adjustments to treatment as indicated. Consult with interdisciplinary clinical staff when making patient care decisions.
  • Recognize and initiate appropriate response to medical emergencies.
  • In collaboration with other members of interdisciplinary treatment team, develop recommendations and referral to additional or ongoing treatment services. Provide consultation to community partners.
  • Participate in Clinical Case Review, coordination of medical care, treatment team meetings, and similar other activities as needed.
  • Review and modify admission criteria and treatment protocols in conjunction with the Medical Director and OTP Operations Team in order to improve quality of care.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Registered Nurses.
  • Work collaboratively with CODA Directors/Managers to insure that safety, regulatory, and industry standards are maintained program wide.

Requirements

The following qualifications are critical to success in this position:

  • Active, unencumbered licensure as a Nurse Practitioner with active certification and prescriptive authority through the Oregon State Board of Nursing is required, including registration with DEA to prescribe Schedule II-V substances.
  • Oregon or Washington Driver’s License.
  • Experience treating patients with substance use disorders. This may include treatment in primary care settings where patients with co-morbid medical and behavioral health disorders are treated.
  • Working knowledge of substance dependence criteria. Through clinical interview, individual must be able to determine current opiate dependence, verify history of addiction, and confirm of the appropriateness of the treatment modality.
  • Able to utilize both oral and written communications skills to effectively communicate with clients, co-workers, community resources, supervisors, and various other individuals encountered in the course of performing work while maintaining client confidentiality and establishing professional rapport.

All CODA facilities are drug-free and smoke-free worksites. Employees may not be serving any supervised parole or probation. Individuals in recovery from substance use disorders must be able to demonstrate continuous abstinence under independent living conditions for the past 2 years.
