Description

At Cocoon House we empower young people, families, and communities in Snohomish County to break the cycle of homelessness through outreach, housing, and prevention. Currently, our agency is looking for a person to fill the important role of the Data Entry Specialist who works as part of the agency’s Data Team to support the work being done in programs. Specifically, the DES uses information from the CaseWorthy database, spreadsheets, and client files to enter data into Snohomish County’s HMIS and other databases. The DES also completes data quality assurance tasks, works with program staff to address discrepancies and improve understanding, and helps programs with working through data entry backlogs.

Our Data Entry Specialist...

· Works collaboratively with the Data Team to meet data deadlines, ensure data quality, generate accurate reports, and foster positive relationships with programs.

· Demonstrates a high level of attention to detail and use of critical thinking skills to minimize errors and discrepancies in data.

· Uses proven organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.

· Demonstrates strong communication and collaboration at all levels of the organization.

What does a shift look like?

Part-Time 20hrs/week

· Work is completed on-site, 4-5 days a week, in an open office setting shared with program and administrative staff.

· Each shift begins with running reports, checking emails, and communicating with team members.

· Data entry into the HMIS database is completed daily and tracked using spreadsheets and through report comparisons.

· Data is reviewed for completeness, logic/consistency, and adherence to funding requirements.

· Support is provided to users both in-person and remotely to address discrepancies and build their understanding of requirements.

· Meetings occur throughout the week, an average of two or three weekly (one-on-one, team, agency, and external meetings).

· Additional duties are completed as assigned. Occasional travel between agency sites is required (approximately once per month).

Pay Scale: $19/hr

General:

· High school diploma or equivalent

· Must be 21 years of age or older

· Must be able to pass DSHS background check

· Basic to intermediate Excel skills with the ability to accurately read and understand data sets, develop and use spreadsheets for tracking tasks, and to sort and manipulate data

· Preferred: Basic understanding of SQL programming

Physical:

· Ability to sit for long periods, move about an office, stand occasionally, reach above and below desk level.

· Fine manipulation sufficient to operate a keyboard, handle individual papers, write and take notes.

· Occasional lifting of papers, files, equipment and material weighing up to 25 pounds.

· Ability to make decisions and concentrate; frequent contact with others including some public contact; frequent deadlines and time-limited assignments.

· Communicate effectively with youth, staff, other programs, vendors and the public, both orally and in writing.

· Dexterity of hands and fingers to reach, handle and operate telephone, computer keyboard, record information in appropriate youth files and logs.

· Hear voice conversations and alarms.

· Possess close vision, far vision, side vision, depth perception, visual ability to read a variety of materials.
