Focus, Scope, & Impact:

  • Primary focus is to develop and execute a state and local government affairs strategy built on a thorough understanding of business priorities, legislation, emerging issues, and industry trends.

  • Provide PACS leadership to bottling partners in close coordination with therelevant Franchise Vice President of The Coca-Cola Company (TCCC)

  • Leadstrategic planning and execution of government relations strategies that support our business goals in partnership with bottlers, industry and TCCC Public Policy and Federal Government Relations and Sustainability teams.

  • Monitorregional NGOs, activists, and political developments to identify trends with implications to the business and develop supporting advocacy plans

  • Develop, cultivate,and strengthen mutually beneficial relationships with elected officials,NGOs, industry groups and other key external stakeholders. Represent the company at industry meetings and conferences and other external functions.

  • Leadwith a deep understanding of state and local sustainability policy priorities and how they align with the Coca-Cola System sustainability goals.

  • Serveas a strategic thought leader providing counsel to internal stakeholders on policy, legislative or reputational initiatives that may impact business performance and/or Company reputation through regular routines and updates.

  • Develop and deliver key messages to external stakeholders in consultation with the Public Policy and Federal Government Relations and Strategic Communications teams.

  • Ensure compliance with all local lobbying and political expenditure disclosure requirements in coordination with the Public Policy and Federal Government Relations team. Ensure digital stakeholder management system is current and effectively maintained.

  • Ensure effective localization and execution of broader strategic communications initiatives, and work in close alignment with the community engagement plans developed by the Stakeholder & Social Impact Managementteamand bottling partners to effectively maximize impact.

  • Be an outstanding and intentional communicator who leads and knows how to be a part of a high performingteam. Operates with a collaborative and agile mindset and models our leadership behaviors. Internally, demonstrates ease in navigating a matrix system and continually develops and nurtures partnerships that facilitate the successful endorsement and execution of our strategies. Externally, has a keen understanding of policymaking and the political process and builds trust and influence with stakeholders as a knowledgeable and reliable representative of the Coca-Cola system.

Experience

  • 15 years of relevant experience, ideally in senior roles with responsibility for state and local government affairs, including state legislation, state policy development, and/or political and issue campaigns, as well as communications, stakeholder management and sustainability.

  • Proven record of accomplishment of building and leading high-performing teams, and successfully collaborating with colleagues from across a broad spectrum, including team members, those in other parts of the organization, industry peers and political stakeholders.

Work Focus

  • Ability to analyze complex business and regulatory issues, manage divergent stakeholders and bring together multiple concepts across functions to define and lead the long-term public affairs and government relations strategy for the business

Communication Focus

  • The role leads communication regularly with key internal and/or external parties and is responsible for sharing information, influencing, and negotiating with key parties and stakeholders with shared and opposing interests.

  •  This role works in partnership with bottling partners in the following states: California, Hawaii and Nevada.
