Schedule: PRN

Job Responsibilities & Functions:

• Provides personal care services and administers medication to the terminally ill patient consistently utilizing 2 resident identifiers prior to the administration of medication. 
• Assists in feeding patients (if necessary) and provides nourishment between meals. 
• Takes and records patient vital signs as directed by RN. 
• With written instructions from a Coastal Hospice registered nurse, provides personal care, assistance with activities of daily living, homemaking, and related assistance to patients 
• Rotates assignment to meet Coastal Hospice program needs 24/7 as required.
• Takes and records patient vital signs and reports any changes in patients’ condition and/or needs as directed by RN. 
• Provides emotional support to the patient and family which requires effective human relation skills.
• Assists with unit operations by Reporting low levels of linens and supplies, assisting with patient laundry, light meal preparation, Checking and documenting daily temperatures of refrigerators, maintaining a safe physical environment according to unit needs and regulatory standards, and performing light housekeeping duties.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

•  Current CNA and CMT certification in Maryland.
• Successful completion of training required by hospice regulations and standards in the State of Maryland. 
• Current CPR certification for Healthcare Provider (BLS). 
• The ability to lift, push, pull or move patients, equipment, supplies, etc. in excess of 50 pounds with or without the use of adaptive/assistive devices. 
• The ability to negotiate level and unlevel surfaces with or without the use of assistive devices. 
• Covid-19 Vaccination is required for employment
