Job Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is the direct supervision of a team of accountants responsible for but not limited to Corporate Accounting functions. The position provides leadership, mentoring, and day-to-day staff management to Corporate Accounting team, ensuring team and departmental goals are represented across all areas of responsibility. This position ensures the team’s development, and all priorities are completed efficiently and accurately. The Corporate Accounting Manager monitors policies and procedures, recommends improvements, consults with Assistant Corporate Controller and VP Finance in establishing major goals and objectives, and serves as a key resource for all aspects of accounting under supervision of this position. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 45% - Oversight and management of Corporate Accounting functions and processes: Manages the activities of staff, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of Corporate accounting transactions including, but not limited to, debt, payroll and stock compensation, certain consolidated financial statements, general accounting, reconciliations, and statutory and GAAP filings. Plans and manages tasks to ensure timely completion of monthly and quarterly accounting processes, controls, and internal and external reporting requirements. Ensures accurate internal and external recording and reporting of financial transactions. Daily coordination with other departments and business partners to trouble-shoot issues and effectively devises corrective measures on complex issues. 25% - Corporate Accounting team management: Leads and provides guidance, support, and growth opportunities to staff, establishes performance objectives for all direct reports. Assigns, directs, and appraises accounting staff. Provides timely feedback on a regular basis, conducts annual performance reviews. Develops and ensures clarity around priorities and goals and manages workflow and reviews team’s completed tasks and assignments for accuracy. Conducts regular team meetings to review department goals and collaborate on department practices to improve efficiency. Provides Assistant Corporate Controller on status of progress made towards assigned tasks and projects. 20% - Accounting Expertise and Compliance: Provides analysis and subject matter expertise as needed. Develops and implements new reports, work papers, processes, or procedures to accommodate new or different business requirements and other special projects as needed. Troubleshoots and solves discrepancies and initiates corrective measures. Ensures that accounting activities are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and Company procedures. Overall responsibility for the review and completion of work papers; responsible for the reconciliation of work paper detail, schedules, and/or appropriate documentation with general ledger and ensure they are performed on a timely basis. Secondary Responsibilities: 7% - Completes and/or approves quarterly SOX compliance control testing. 3% - Assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures for areas of responsibility, including the enhancement of internal controls. Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance. Minimum of 7 years of related accounting experience required. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing team required, preferably managing account staff. Strong general ledger, consolidation, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and banking working knowledge. Ability to understand and interpret governmental regulations, reporting requirements and generally accepted accounting principles. CPA and public accounting experience desired. Attention to detail in processing information, establishing priorities, and expense management. Capable of performing a broad range of tasks simultaneously. Solid analytical and problem resolution skills, including formulating logical and objective conclusions. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally both verbally and in writing with various constituencies and at all levels, both internally and external to the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office computer applications including Word and Excel, experience in accounting software systems required, preferably in Workday and Adaptive systems. Ability to maintain high level confidential information. Must be able to work independently. Must be able to occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
