Job Purpose:

The Business Development Associate is responsible for bringing in new project opportunities; building and maintaining industry relationships with architecture/design firms, landlord and tenant rep brokers, project management firms, building managers and direct clients/end users. Has a learning understanding of the market and players in which they are assigned to as well as a learning knowledge on the various markets and industries in which Clune operates. They will work closely with the company project teams, management and marketing departments to assist in securing work with the ultimate goal of reaching company annual profit targets.

Essential Functions:

Relationship Management and New Business Development

  • Secure meetings with the appropriate players involved in prospective projects
  • Learning of the office-specific market, Clune business practices and what the commercial construction industry does.
  • Support Clune’s current client relationships and cultivate new relationships
  • Help and assist furthering existing client relationships into other regions/markets
  • Discover leads and bring in new business opportunities
  • Ensure Clune receives opportunities that align with Clune’s business objectives
  • Assist in the evaluation of potential projects (go/no-go process)
  • Participate and have active involvement in industry-related professional organizations and charity committees
  • Attend industry events, conferences and networking events
  • Actively participate in an industry leads sharing group
  • Working with Marketing CRC's in a timely manner to keep CMiC updated with accurate information

Internal Company Support

  • Participate in monthly national business development meetings/calls and BD seminars as well as local and/or regional BD meetings
  • Support other BD team members and assist with their efforts where appropriate/necessary
  • Proactively establish and maintain effective working team relationships with all company departments
  • Support Team Leaders, Superintendents, Project Managers and all management as it is related to the company’s existing/new business development, operational functions and revenue goals
  • Monitor ongoing client status and satisfaction (especially for those accounts the individual has brought in/helps maintain)
  • Attend client meetings, presentations and walkthroughs (when appropriate)
  • Assist project teams to close new business deals

Collaboration with Marketing

  • Provide direction and comments to the Marketing Department including but not limited to: assistance with the creation of collateral, presentations, proposals, reports and other marketing materials as needed

Requirements

  • Good prospecting skills, effective communication and interpersonal skills, pipeline management, database expertise, and professionalism
  • A willingness to learn the commercial construction industry and establishing a network of real estate, design, construction and various client contacts.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office software (and knowledge of a CRM database a plus)
  • Ethical in approach to maximize sales opportunities and uncover new business

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Sales/Marketing, Communications, Business, Real Estate or Construction Management
