Clinpath Diagnostics is Hiring a Chief Operating Officer Near Phoenix, AZ

JOB SUMMARY:

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is responsible for coordinating and supervising the pension programs, compliance programs, risk management, billing functions, administrative functions, and services provided by Clin-Path Associates (CPA), Clin-Path Diagnostics (CPD), Pathology Billing Services (PBS), and Pathology Specialists of Arizona (PSA). to assure the success of corporate goals for the group. This role will function as an integral part of the leadership team and will oversee operational functions of the medical group by working under the direction of the President/CEO, PSA, and CPA executive committees, the Chief Operating Officer is responsible for building effective relationships and supporting company goals and initiatives. This role will be focused on maximizing the quality and efficiency of daily operations and directing the company’s strategic growth plan. Effective communication methods and the ability to work with all levels of the company employees is needed to evaluate, modify, and develop business processes while enhancing and improving daily operations.

Strategic Planning and Operations

  1. Assist in formulating the company's future direction and supporting tactical initiatives
  2. Develop a growth strategy
  3. Develop performance measures that support the company's strategic direction
  4. Leads coordination and integration of efforts among operations, engineering, technology, and customer service divisions to produce smoother workflow and more cost-effective business processes.
  1. Provide support to the President/CEO, PSA, and CPA Executive Board of Directors on strategic business opportunities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, CPA:

  1. Supervises and manages the administrative staff of CPA, CPD, and PBS in terms of process oversight and control. Provides direction in the development and sustainment of business processes. This position is responsible for the development and training of staff in these areas.
  1. Works in collaboration with CFO to support CPA with clients, including hospitals, ASC and other clients to maintain and develop business opportunities.

  1. Assures regulatory compliance with regulations established by CMS, CLIA, OSHA, and Managed Care Plan contracts.
  1. Oversees the CPA Executive Committee agenda, follow up execution of policy and procedure as a result of that committee's direction.
  1. Establishes pathologist schedules and oversees vacation, holiday, and call schedules.
  1. Oversees risk management and case management related to medical malpractice claims
  1. Represents CPA with clients, including hospitals, ASC's and other clients to maintain and develop business opportunities.
  1. Supports HR policy, procedure, enforcement, FMLA, EEOC and other functions related to staff management.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PSA:

  1. Provides strategic direction in the development and sustainment of business processes. Coordinates pathology services at each of the Banner facilities.
  1. Oversees the billing functions at PBS to assure maximum collections and accuracy in the billing process. This responsibility includes managed care contracting and budget responsibility.

  1. In collaboration with the CFO, assists with negotiations and contracting strategy for the ongoing agreements with Banner Health System and Banner MD Anderson Agreements. Participates in hospital committees as necessary to represent the pathology service.
  1. Provides consultation services to each of the Partners as requested in terms of, operational matters.
  1. Assures regulatory compliance with regulations established by CMS, CLIA, OSHA, and Managed Care Plan contracts.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL/VISUAL DEMANDS, ENVIRONMENT:

Excellent communication (verbal & written); analytical and supervisory skills, ability to function in a high-stress environment; deadlines, and organizational skills. Must be alert and energetic with constant monitoring of workflow. Great mental demands and extreme attention to detail are required in the completion of activities. No unusual physical or visual demands. Majority of time is spent at a workstation using a computer and telephone. Routine work encompasses visual and keyboard stresses. Some lifting/bending but not over 30 lbs. unassisted. Will work at a computer station and use the telephone 90% of the time. All CPA/PSA safety policies and practices are to be followed and are a condition of employment.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Personal Computer, scanner, calculator, fax, telephone.

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

Interfaces with Managed Care Leaders as necessary. Interfaces with lawyers, accountants, and other specialists as necessary to support the mission.

SCOPE AND COMPLEXITY:

The position requires the ability to work closely with a variety of personnel including pathologists, executives, managers, supervisors, staff, and external individuals, e.g. auditors, consultants, and hospital personnel.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Completion of a master's degree in business administration or relevant degree at an accredited college or university is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s Degree required, MBA or other relevant graduate degree preferred
  • 5 years of progressively responsible experience in a major healthcare-related company or healthcare practice. Laboratory industry experience is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with operations experience in anatomic pathology, clinical laboratory businesses or large multi-site professional medical practices
  • 5 – 7 years of healthcare experience required.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience will be considered.

Ability to:

  • Foster and cultivate business opportunities and partnerships.
  • Reviews analyze and evaluate business procedures.
  • Recognize and be responsive to the needs of all hospital and clinic clients of the organization, the Board of Directors, employees, physician and institutional shareholders, and 3rd party payors.
  • Supervise staff, including regular progress reviews and plans for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms.
  • The position must demonstrate behaviors consistent with the values of the Group.
