Position Summary 

The Account Director manages assigned clients and projects, directs ClinicalMind (CM) cross-functional team, and serves as the client lead, with oversight from the Group Account Supervisor or Sr Account Director. The individual in this role needs to build strong client relationships, listen for new business/growth opportunities, and foster organic growth through excellent client service and project execution. 

Job Responsibilities 

  • Manage assigned clients/projects, direct CM cross-functional team, and serve as the client lead, with oversight from the Group Account Supervisor or Sr Account Director 
  • Serve as main point of contact for client; manage day-to-day client requests; respond to all client inquiries within 24 hours 
  • Develop and maintain exceptional relationships with clients, potential clients, and key opinion leaders in the therapeutic area 
  • Build strong client relationships, listen for new business/growth opportunities, and foster organic growth through excellent client service and project execution 
  • Draft proposals/budgets and manage budgets/project scope through the life of the project 
  • Develop and manage timelines with Project Manager. Understand the interdependency of project components; proactively identify potential impact to timelines and workflow; develop solutions; and guide team and client through appropriate adjustments 
  • Learn about clients' therapeutic areas, business, and strategic imperatives 
  • Understand client preferences, SOPs, business conduct guidance, and PRC requirements, and ensure CM follows them 
  • Financial management of projects (internal/client) in conjunction with manager 
  • Prepare for, participate in, and lead internal/client meetings. Responsible for pre-meeting preparation with CM cross-functional team and development of agendas/recaps 
  • Partner with other departments (editorial, scientific services, finance, meeting logistics, technology) to ensure that clients business needs are being met and projects are executed with excellence 
  • Travel to client meetings and programs to oversee execution 
  • Support ad hoc CM and client projects as they arise 

 Job Requirements 

  • Moderate to extensive travel will be required at times 
  • Desired Experience: 6 years of medical communications account management experience with at least 2 years experience as the primary day to day client contact  
  • Bachelor’s degree 
  • The ideal candidate will be an intelligent, quick, forward-looking, and strategic thinker who is team-oriented, collegial, proactive, and predisposed to act as a trusted and confidential partner to clients and the internal team 
  • Ability to multi-task, be solution-oriented, and be highly organized is essential
  • A sense of humor is considered an important quality as is a natural, optimistic attitude
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, as well as strong oral and written communication abilities. This person will be an exceptional listener who has the ability to relate to a wide variety of clients and adapt to their program needs
