ROLE SUMMARY
The Regulatory Specialist is responsible for supporting both internal partners and external customers as it pertains to regulatory functionality. The role will help manage and prioritize customer needs and requests including specifications, questionnaires, labeling, kosher, nutritionals, etc. The specialist will also work cross-functionally to support R&D and sales, and will help ensure finished products meet all regulatory requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage review and approval of new ingredient documentation from suppliers and any updated documentation according to established frequency.
  • Populate regulatory/ labeling information in customer portals or questionnaires for new items and update as needed for existing items.
  • Create and maintain internal and customer-facing product specifications.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to integrate compliance, labeling and claim considerations into new product development meetings.
  • Responsible for regulatory review of all products ingredient, formula, and packaging compliance.
  • Fulfill customer or internal requests for information with accurate and professional responses.
  • Reviewing documentation to substantiate labeling accuracy and claims.
  • Manage regulatory change control process to update labels, specifications, or documentations, as needed.
  • Responsible for meeting project timelines and communicating needs to meet established deadlines.
  • Manage customer requests and project work based on priorities established by manager.
  • Ensure documentation of all regulatory records and files are complete and accurate
  • Responsible for entering raw materials, formulas, and other required data into nutrition database.
  • Manage ingredient, formula and finished good certification for Kosher, Organic and various other third party certifications.
  • Create and test labels in Bartender System and maintain files for cross functional team to refference as needed.
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of current food labeling regulations, regulatory activities and trends that may have an impact on the organization.
  • Assist QA with pulling technical documentation in support of compliance audits as needed.
  • On occasion, develop and maintain policies and procedures for department functions.
  • Works on company cross-functional regulatory projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
  • 2 years of regulatory experience required.
  • Bachelors of Science in Nutrition, Food Science, Biology or related discipline preferred. Associates degree or equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Experience with ESHA Genesis, TraceGains, Salesforce and customer portals is strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, balance multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and demonstrate strength in inspiring a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Build strategic partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
