My client, Fieldpiece, is hiring a Mechanical Engineer to join our R&D team and create new products. The ideal candidate has 5 years of mechanical engineering experience and is curious, tenacious, analytical. You enjoy taking products full life cycle – starting with the customer to understand their needs and design a solution and then working with our manufacturers to scale the product.
You’ll work closely with our customers and marketing to ensure a viable market and successful launch. You’re an entrepreneurial, autonomous yet collaborative tinkerer that gets excited about uncovering new technologies and developing new products. You’re given a lot of latitude to make a big impact as you design, engineer, and beta-test solutions to guarantee the most innovative, durable, and reliable products in the field.

Given the highly collaborative nature of this role, you’ll need (and want) to be on-site at our Orange, CA office 4-days a week. Our people, hands-on mindset, incredible snacks, and music room and gym make coming to the office fun and productive. You’ll also spend time with our customers (averages one day/month) and manufacturers at critical project points.
What You'll Do
Research, analyze, design, develop, test, and validate new products based on customer insights and market feasibility studies.
Establish project objectives, key deliverables, technical design, and work breakdown and manage through all phases within established timeframes and budget.
Conduct market research to deeply understand customer applications, identify needs, evaluate competitive products, size the market, find new technologies – you’re constantly innovating!
Document requirements and product specifications using tools such as SolidWorks.
Conduct and/or review the testing of new designs, interpret test data, and recommend corrective actions.

The California base annual salary range for this role is currently $100,000 - $115,000 plus bonus. Pay scales are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of several factors that that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to, job-related skills, relevant education and experience, certifications, abilities of the candidate and pay relative to other team members. We can share more information about our bonus program and benefits during the hiring process.
