To that end, we are building the region’s premier destination for comprehensive vision care. We are a team of over 130 optometrists, ophthalmologists, surgeons, opticians, and eye care professionals serving more than 100,000 patients across 15 different locations in the Greater Tampa Bay area. From routine eye exams and optical retail, to medical optometry, ophthalmology, and surgical procedures, our patients experience end-to-end personalized care and service.

We're looking for a progressive Purchasing Manager to effectively manage our purchasing process and build a team that can support multiple locations and future growth.

Requirements

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for purchasing, planning, inventory, and logistics. This position must provide leadership and direction for continuous improvement in supplier quality, supplier delivery and cost performance. Supply Chain success will be measured by the ongoing improvement of delivery, ongoing cost reduction, and ability to implement scalability to our long-term supply chain strategy.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Expedite and adjust delivery schedules at suppliers, as required, to meet the needs of stores, clinics and ASC.
  • Review and revise contracts required for ongoing operations related to products and services as required.
  • Establish and maintain metrics for the purchasing operations.
  • Recommend problem avoidance and cost reductions for existing products/services.
  • Visit supplier facilities to observe operations and discuss business relationships.
  • Analyze specifications and determines the best source for procurement of commodities. Work closely with VP of Finance on development and onboarding of new suppliers.
  • Correspond in writing and verbally with suppliers as required to assure adequate and timely resolution of problems.
  • Initiate cost reduction programs with suppliers.
  • Source and develop key suppliers with a goal of establishing a good ethical and supplier/user relationship.
  • Prioritize and manage timelines for contract buys and blanket POs.
  • Partner with stakeholders and communicate effectively about supply challenges and opportunities.
  • Maintain periodic reporting of customer complaints, account activity, phone activity, and shipment and returns activity, and other reports as developed within customer service
  • Maintain and track performance against pre-established targets
  • Maintain current data in information system platform for all purchase orders
  • Oversee facility management activities.
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Position reports to Vice President, Finance
  • Responsible for overseeing purchasing team including Facilities Coordinator, Product Purchasing Coordinator and Medical Purchasing Coordinator

Position/Type/ Expected Hours of Work:

  • This is a full-time ON SITE position and core hours of work and days are Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Potential for evening and weekend hours as required.

Travel:

20% Travel to Corporate Office in Oldsmar as well as occasional travel to locations within footprint required

Qualifications:

  • Eye ware products (lenses, frames, contacts) purchasing experience highly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, ops management, business or related discipline.
  • 7 years’ experience in purchasing or other related supply chain equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in supervising/team lead activities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook and Excel
  • Must have knowledge of purchasing techniques, bills of materials and routings, inventory control techniques, and ERP/MRP practices and techniques.
  • Understanding of computerized inventory functions as well as systems.

  • Ability to hire and manage an effective team
  • Ability to analyze data and develop management reports and presentations
  • Ability to demonstrated knowledge of procurement systems, processes and procedures;
  • Analytical and negotiation skills and techniques;
  • Management skills in assessing business issues;
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal interactions skills;
  • Ability to facilitate cross-functional teams
